In Kingdom Come Deliverance II, you will eventually notice that there are a ton of quests that you need to complete. Apart from the main quests, there are some pretty important side quests that have much significance. Most give you rewards and perks that are very useful. Anyway, one such interesting side quest in the game is the Dragon’s Lair side quest, where you are required to find and deliver some alleged dragon bones. You can start this quest by interacting with Monk Slava, located in the Bylany region. While this quest might seem like any other side quest, it has been the reason why many players are frustrated. Why? Well, it appears that the quest is bugged. For some, the bones just don’t appear in the location mentioned in the guides, while for others, they are unable to deliver their findings to the monk. So, if you too are encountering a similar issue in this quest, this is just the guide you need.
During a point in the quest, you will find a group aggravating you not to pursue the bones. But if you ignore them and find the bones, you will need to battle them at the very end to get to keep your possessions. Ideally, after killing every enemy, you are free to interact with Monk Slava or Gerhart and give them the bones. This is where players think the bug takes charge, as when they try to interact with the monk or Gerhart, the option to give them the bones doesn’t appear. So, what to do in this situation?

Kingdom Come Deliverance II (KCD 2) Dragon’s Lair Quest Bug: Is there any fix yet?
We don’t think this is a bug. Why? Because there is something else at play. After combing through the player reports, we have found that there is a hidden timer in the game that starts ticking the moment you start the quest after talking to Monk Slava or maybe the abbot. What’s its significance? Well, this timer is put in place to ensure that you don’t waste time wandering off to various locations to find the dragon bones. Since there are multiple groups searching for the bones, you will need to get there before them. That’s why, before you even start this quest, make sure that you already know the location of the bones by watching various guides on the same. If done within time, the option to give the bones will appear when interacting with the right NPCs. However, if the issue persists even then, try these workarounds:
Restart
Well, as always, we are recommending the restart workaround once again. Before you try anything, consider restarting the game once and then loading the latest save to check whether the same issue persists.
Reload Save
Another effective workaround to try is reloading a previous save and restarting the quest again. Since there is a hidden timer associated with the quest, you will need to access a save where the quest hasn’t been started yet.
Skip conversation with Slava and Woodcutter
Once you talk to the abbot, don’t go back to Slava. If you talk to him, he will give you information about the woodcutter. Skip that conversation and go straight to the location where the bones are located (take the help of visual guides on YouTube). There is a slim chance that doing so will work.
Don’t sleep when the quest is active
Once you start the quest, lock in to finish it as fast as you can. If you sleep during your exploration, other groups might find the bones, and when you arrive at the location, the bones will no longer be there. In addition to this, if you sleep after you acquire the bones, the option to give them to Slava might disappear.
For now, these are the workarounds we recommend you try to complete the Dragon’s Lair quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance II. If you find this guide informative, consider visiting DigiStatement for more such interesting reads on all things gaming.
