Is Wizard101 dead in 2024

Is Wizard101 dead in 2024

If you are a fan of classic MMORPGs, then you must have played or at least heard of KingsIsle Entertainment’s popular game, Wizard101. Released back in 2008, it’s KingsIsle’s best-known work to date and is among the many classic MMORPGs that are still being talked about. However, with 2024 just a few weeks away, many want to know if the game is doing well enough or is headed for the chopping block.

A new year always brings in a ton of worries about a game’s health. Especially for multiplayer titles, which are very susceptible to shutting down when player numbers start dwindling. And Wizard101 is a game that’s more than a decade old. Of course, many are going to be curious about how the game is doing. So, without much further ado, continue reading for more details.

Is Wizard101 dead in 2024

The answer to this recurring question is short and simple: No. KingsIsle has been supporting the game for a long time, despite low player numbers. So if you are worried about the studio closing off the development for the game, rest easy, because that isn’t going to happen anytime soon. In fact, Wizard101 had just received a major update that introduced a new world called Wallaru, along with things like new spells and more.

It’s really a commendable fact that KingsIsle has somehow kept Wizard101 going all these years. However, here also lies a major problem with the game. The biggest complaint that players of Wizard101 seem to have with it is that KingsIsle has kept all major progression behind a paywall. As a result, this has and continues to turn many potential players away from the game. The community has been asking for at least making the first arc free, but so far KingsIsle hasn’t done anything close to that. The game might see a good enough addition of new players if the developers at least made the first arc free for all players.

While player numbers for the Steam version, at least, average less than 500 a month, the game is still somehow doing well enough to not warrant any worries about KingsIsle sunsetting the official servers. Plus, there’s also the fact that Wizard101 is the most popular and successful game in KingsIsle’s portfolio, and they will do everything possible to keep the game alive for as long as possible. They have already done that for more than a decade, so another year doesn’t seem to be out of the realm of possibility. So unless something drastic happens at KingsIsle Entertainment, you can keep on playing Wizard101 for another few good years. Well, if you want to try out Wizard101, go ahead and do so.

And that’s all we know about this topic. Anyway, if you want to know whether Dead by Daylight is dead now, consider taking a look at this. Lastly, as always, keep following DigiStatement for more content like this. Also read: Wizard101: How long does it take to beat 2nd arc?
