Valorant is a First Person Shooter that has taken the gaming world by storm. The gameplay feels similar to playing CSGO, but with more features and abilities. Players play as agents that are based on several nationalities scattered around the world. Players need to employ their special abilities along with weapons to form a cohesive unit and defeat the enemy team.

The game is famous for its abilities and its easy-to-understand gameplay mechanism. This, coupled with the exponential rise in the number of games being played by people thanks to the lockdown, Valorant is quite famous in the gaming community.

Is Valorant dying in 2021?

Valorant is one of the many online multiplayer shooting games that have risen recently. Other such games include Apex Legends, Fortnite, Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds, and more. With so many competitors, standing out becomes harder. While the game sits on a good 9/10 rating on Steam, there are more factors that account for a game’s success.

In January 2021, Valorant successfully took over CSGO to be the dominating First Person Shooter game on the PC platform. CSGO has been around for a longer time, and it also has a huge market for skins and other in-game items. However, the market has been mostly migrated off of the Steam store or in-game purchases to sites and marketplaces online. People avoid taking a chance on crates and instead buy skins on online skin sites.

As stated by Superdata in their reports, Valorant’s reported a 39% increase in revenue and a 29% increase in the number of concurrent players, as compared to the data of the previous month (December – January). The game has been climbing to the top of the charts, overtaking not only CSGO but also Fortnite in the process. It appears that Valorant is here to stay.
