The Xbox Games Showcase 2023 showed a glimpse of what the next Fable game might look like. It has almost been a decade since the release of the last Fable game. Since then, the team behind these games has changed, and we will have a brand new Fable game from the developers of the Forza franchise. As for the game, from what we know from the trailer, it is a medieval RPG with swords, magic, giant pumpkins, and all things related to fantasy. Now, coming back to the topic, let us see if the game has a release date on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
As you might know, Fable is scheduled to release on PC (Windows) and Xbox Series X/S. Since not much is mentioned about the game’s release on other platforms, a lot of players are wondering about the same. In recent times, we have seen a lot of new games ditching the older-gen consoles completely. But in the case of Fable, even the PS5 didn’t get any explicit mention on the game’s list of supported platforms. So what is going on here? Well, just keep reading for all the answers.
Is there a Fable PS4, PS5, Xbox One, & Nintendo Switch Release Date
Folks, as of writing this article, Fable does not have a release date for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, & Nintendo Switch. Not just that, the game does not even have an official release window yet on the platforms where it is set to release. Still, if you are someone who is hoping for the game to be added to the above-mentioned consoles, then you must lower your expectations. Well, let us walk you through a couple of reasons why Fable will never be released on the consoles mentioned above.
PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch Port?
First, let’s go over the older-gen consoles like the PS4, Xbox One, and even the Switch. As we mentioned earlier, the game is currently being developed by the same team that is also responsible for the Forza Horizon series. And, since Fable is going to be published by Xbox Games Studios, and the ongoing trend of not releasing games on old-gen consoles is on the rise, it is not a surprise that it will not be receiving old-gen ports. So, this takes the PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch out of the picture.
PS5 Port?
But what about PS5? After all, it should be capable enough to run the game. Well, technically yes, but the game will not be released on the latest console from Sony because both Playground Games and Xbox Game Studios are part of Microsoft, and the series itself is Microsoft’s IP. What does this mean? To put it simply, Microsoft has exclusive ownership of the game and, as such, will keep it exclusive to the PC and Xbox (current-gen) platforms, keeping its archnemesis, PlayStation, out of the equation.
So there you have it; that should explain why Fable will never see the light of day on consoles like PS4, PS5, Xbox One, & Nintendo Switch. We hope all your doubts have been cleared. For more reads like this, follow Digistatement.
