Just like 2023, 2024 too is looking like another amazing year for video games. We have already got great titles like Palworld and Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, with more on the way. Gami Studio’s Deviator is also another title eyeing a 2024 release. Although not well known like other games, it’s generated an interesting buzz in the Metroidvania circles. A lot of curious fans have been flocking in to know more about the game and right now, a big question that’s been asked around happens to be the game’s release date for consoles.
A quick look at the game’s trailer and it’s pretty easy to determine that Deviator is heavily inspired by Team Cherry’s Metroidvania masterpiece, Hollow Knight. And with no Silksong release in sight, a lot of Metroidvania fans have been looking for an alternative of sorts. Deviator clearly being one of the possible choices. While the game is already confirmed for a PC release, there’s a major curiosity around the game’s console release. At the time of publishing this, the devs are yet to announce anything related to Deviator getting its release on platforms other than PC. So far, all we know regarding the game’s release is that it will be released in 2024 via Steam. Fans certainly were expecting the game to be released on other platforms, but unfortunately, it’s only confirmed for PC right now.
This is Gami Studio’s debut game and with a team consisting of only a few developers, it makes sense to develop the game for one platform at first. And PC is clearly the better choice here since it’s got more reach and market share compared to consoles. Moreover, from what we have seen so far, Deviator still needs some touches to make it a polished title.
While we do know that the game will be released this year itself, Gami Studio has yet to announce an official release date. It’s possible that the developers might announce Deviator’s release on other platforms in the upcoming months. But at the same time, it’s also entirely probable that Gami Studio will stick with the current PC release. While there’s still sometime before the game’s eventual release, players will get to play a limited-time demo of the game this February, thanks to Steam Next Fest.
