update PS5 controller software

PlayStation has launched a very popular line of gaming consoles. With the latest PlayStation 5, gamers have wholeheartedly embraced console gaming. However, many of them are facing the error code SU-30746-0 where users cannot update the system software. There are simple methods to fix this issue on PS4.

Before trying out the fix,

  • Press the PlayStation button on the controller.
  • This should open the Quick Menu.
  • Navigate to Power and open it.
  • Select Turn off PS4.
  • Wait for the console to shut down completely. For a quick check, once it is shut down, no lit bar should be seen on the console.

For fixing the Error Code SU-30746-0, system software not updating, you have to launch the console in safe mode. To do this,

  • Grab a micro-USB cable so that you can connect the controller directly to the PS4.
  • Now, press and hold the power button for 10 to 15 seconds until you hear two beeps.
  • One beep should be immediately after you press down the button. The second one will be around 10 seconds later.
  • Doing this will launch the PS4 in safe mode.

Once the PS4 boots up, press the PlayStation button to open the safe mode menu. Now follow the steps to update the software.

  • Generally, the Update System Software option will be the third option.
  • Navigate using the joystick.
  • In the Update system software option, you will get three options. Click on Update using the Internet.
  • After scanning for possible updates, it will allow you to download and install the updates.

In case the Update using the Internet does not work for you, you can try the Update using a USB stick. In this scenario, you have to get the update from the official PlayStation website. Then insert that USB drive containing the update in your console.

Fortunately, these two methods are very easy. However, if you are unable to update yet again, then go back to the Safe mode menu. Scroll down to Initialize PS4. This will reinstall the software all over again. You have to get the software from the PlayStation website and do the necessary.
