While playing the game, you will eventually receive a bamboo fishing pole from a fellow NPC in the valley, once you receive this bamboo pole, you’ll be able to start fishing but it’s definitely not going to be easy, which may be obvious since you’re reading this article. There are different types of fishing poles, the better fishing poles will also allow you to get better and more complicated fish. It should be mentioned as many players aren’t aware, there are different fish you can get during the day and night, similarly, some will also specifically only be there during a particular season and in a particular fishing spot. The valley has three common fishing spots, ocean, river, and lake. The various fish are also different in their value of coins.
How to catch fish in?
Coming back to the topic, to catch fish in Stardew Valley, once you’ve cast as far as you can, which will increase as you level up, a fish will eventually take the bait and get hooked. To reel the fish in we have given a small explanation below.
- You will have a small mini-game pop up, the UI should be placed like this, you will have a fish icon moving up and down, slowly or erratically this will depend on what type of fish it is and how rare, furthermore there will be a green highlighted bar behind the fish icon, you have to keep the fish within that bar, you can raise the green bar by pressing the “A” button on your switch to make it go up and leave the “A” button to let it fall down.
- You will notice quickly how sensitive it is, so the trick to catch fish is to tap the “A” button rather than hold it to keep the fish within the green bar. This will take a few tries before you get used to it and catch a fish but it’ll be worth it in coins.
- There will also be another green bar adjacent to the fish icon and the green highlight behind the fish, this green bar will fill to the top as your chances of catching the fish increase.
That is all there is to catching fish in Stardew Valley, we will highly suggest buying the new fishing poles as soon as they become available as they will help you in catching fish.
