How to Craft Netherite Armor & Tools in Minecraft 1.20 Update

Minecraft is a very popular game in today’s world. Having the concepts of exploration, survival, and crafting as its very base ideas, Minecraft remains one of the most successful games celebrated by this generation. Only players with the best gear tend to survive and last long in the game’s world. Players who owned diamond gear were considered the best. They were nearly indestructible. Diamond gears are so strong that they absorb most damage. But there is one material that is even stronger than Diamond. It is considered the strongest material in Minecraft, which helps the players craft the best gear. Well, you might already know what it is. Yes, that’s Netherite. However, with the latest Minecraft 1.20 update, you might have a hard time crafting the Netherite armor and tools in the game. But if you are reading this guide, you are only a few steps away from crafting it.

Players who manage to get their hands on Netherite can have quite an enjoyable time in-game without the fear of taking damage. Netherite gear is so powerful that it is resistant to fire and lava. In the Minecraft 1.20 update, the difficulty of crafting Netherite gear has been taken to the next level. To upgrade Diamond gear to Netherite gear, players should now possess something called the “Netherite Upgrade Smithing Template”. This can only be found in the Bastion Remnants of the Nether. So, if you are looking to upgrade your Diamond gear, you are at the right place. Continue reading and learn the most efficient way to craft Netherite gear through this detailed crafting guide.

Usually, players who decide to upgrade their Diamond gear into a Netherite one can start by going into the Nether and locating Ancient Debris. With the help of the Diamond Pickaxe, players were able to mine Ancient Debris and later smelt it using a normal or blast Furnace to obtain netherite scraps from the process. But after the 1.20 update, there is an added step to this whole process. Let us now look at the updated method of crafting Netherite gear:

Venture into the Nether

The player must own a Diamond gear as the initial step of the process. Possession of Gold ingots is a necessity to craft Netherite ingots. The following step is to start venturing into the Nether. After entering the Nether, your next job is to locate a Bastion Remnant; however, the chances of their spawning are quite high (more than 50%). For those who have their cheats on, type in “/locate structure minecraft:bastion_remnant” after pressing ‘T’ on your keyboard or the Right D-Pad button on your controller. This gives the exact location of the nearest Bastion Remnant. Click on the coordinates, and you will be teleported directly to the place.

After locating the Bastion Remnant, work your way to locate the Netherite Upgrade Smithing Template in Chests. For those with the cheats on, you can turn on the spectator mode by typing “/gamemode spectator” and moving around to locate chests. These chests have nearly a 10% chance of containing the Smithing Template.

Ancient Debris

After getting your hands on the Netherite Upgrade Smithing Template, work on locating Ancient Debris present in the same region or from any other Nether region by mining. You can also use TNT to clear more areas. Moreover, TNT does not have the power to destroy Ancient Debris, making your work of locating them even easier. After finding them, you can mine the Ancient Debris with your Diamond Axe. Make sure to get at least 20+ Ancient Debris.

Smelting time

Now, head back to your house located outside the Nether. It is time to use your Furnace and crafting table. Put the Ancient Debris from your inventory into the Furnace and smelt it into Netherite Scrap. Next up, use your crafting table to combine your gold ingots with the Netherite scraps in the following order, as shown in the image. If placed correctly, you will be able to craft Netherite ingots.

Note: It can be difficult to visit the Nether every time to obtain a Netherite Upgrade Smithing Template. So, to ease the process of getting one, use your crafting table to duplicate the existing Netherite Upgrade Smithing Template. All you need to do is combine the template with Netherrack and Diamonds. Do this until you have enough duplicates. This might be useful for future upgrades.

Smithing table

After you have enough Netherite ingots, use the Smithing table to craft your very own Netherite gear by combining your existing Diamond gear (Armor/ Tools) with the Netherite Upgrade Smithing Template and the Netherite Ingots crafted before. And now you own a cool collection of Netherite tools and gear to make your Minecraft experience quite enjoyable.

Although the process of obtaining Netherite gear is a bit complicated, it is still exciting. Anyway, we hope this detailed guide has given you some insights about how to craft your very own Netherite gear without any hassle.
