Grand Theft Auto V (GTA 5) stands as a titan in the gaming industry with its sprawling open world and endless opportunities for mayhem. Its online counterpart, GTA Online, has become a virtual playground where you can engage in heists, races, and all manner of mischief with friends and strangers alike. With anticipation building for the next installment, GTA 6, fans continue to flock to Los Santos, soaking in all that GTA 5 has to offer. That being said, in this guide, we will dive into one of the essential aspects of survival in the chaotic streets of Los Santos: equipping body armor in GTA 5 Online. So until the dawn of GTA 6, let’s make sure your character is armored up and ready for whatever the streets throw their way.

In GTA Online, it’s a wild world out there, full of dangers at every turn. Whether you’re battling other players or trying to dodge the cops, staying safe is a must. Body armor serves as a crucial line of defense, absorbing damage and extending your chances of survival in the unforgiving streets of Los Santos. With other players armed to the teeth and chaos waiting to unfold, the next bullet could always have your name on it. Therefore, body armor is a must for your character, and here is how you can acquire it!

Cutting straight to the chase, follow the steps given below to have your character armored up in GTA 5 Online.

  • Check Your Armor Status: Look at the bottom left side of the screen. If you see a solid blue bar, it means you have full armor. If not, you’ll need to equip some.
  • Visit an Ammu-Nation Store: Head to the nearest Ammu-Nation store. You can find one marked on your map. Once inside, approach the armor section.
  • Purchase Armor: At the store, locate the armor section and choose the type of armor you want to buy. For maximum protection, go for the super-heavy armor and purchase it.
  • Equip Armor: Open up the interaction menu by pressing the appropriate button (usually the M key on the PC or the Options button on console controllers). Scroll down until you find the “Health and Ammo” section.
  • Select Body Armor: Within the “Health and Ammo” section, look for the “Body Armor” option. Select it to open up the armor menu.
  • Choose Armor Type: From the armor menu, choose the type of armor you want to equip. If you bought super-heavy armor, select it from the list. Once you’ve selected the armor type, it will be applied to your character automatically. You should see your character wearing the armor in-game. With Auto Equip, you can also toggle the option to show armor when purchased automatically.

Now that your character is equipped with body armor, you’re ready to face the challenges of GTA 5 Online with extra protection. Remember, having body armor can significantly increase your survivability in GTA Online, so it’s always a good idea to keep it topped up. Anyway, that brings us to the end of this guide.
