After being officially announced back in 2016, Cygames’s Granblue Fantasy: Relink is finally here. Released on February 1, 2024, for Windows and PlayStation, the game has been receiving quite a positive reception from both critics and fans. Even as of writing this, the Steam version of the game alone saw a 24-hour peak of about 65,842 players. Quite an impressive number, but something that’s also to be expected when releasing a game related to one of the top gacha games. Fans certainly are having a great time playing the game, but there are a lot of things about it that players aren’t aware of. Something that players want to know about is whether the game supports crossplay between PC and PS.
For the uninitiated, crossplay is the ability to play a game with players on different hardware. It’s mostly related to multiplayer since solo or offline mode has no use for it. Crossplay is also something that a lot of players like to be included in the game they are playing, as it helps with getting more matches or companions with less wait time. Granblue Fantasy Relink Crossplay Support Between PC & PlayStation: Is it available?
As of now, Granblue Fantasy Relink doesn’t support crossplay between PC and PlayStation. Quite an unfortunate news to hear since many were looking forward to playing the game with other players. We also don’t even know if Cygames is planning to make crossplay available between PC and PlayStation. Granblue Fantasy Relink does have crossplay support but currently, it’s limited to the PlayStation 4 and 5 only. Now, Cygames hasn’t given any explanation as to why crossplay isn’t available for PC and PS. Some players think it’s due to PlayStation limiting crossplay features, while others are of the opinion that the reason there’s no crossplay between PC and PS is because the former can open up the game to cheats. But whatever the reason, maybe Cygames should have at least made crossplay a toggleable option for both platforms.
As expected, the community is upset by this decision. Crossplay plays an integral part in keeping multiplayer alive. While Granblue Fantasy Relink can be enjoyed offline, many fans prefer playing the game with friends and other players. Right now, there’s a pretty high demand for crossplay between PC and PS. However, at the end of the day, it’s up to Cygames to decide whether they want to introduce cross-play for PlayStation and PC users.
