DEVELOPER’S STANCE ON USING MODS
However, the game’s developers had stated that if any player is found using third party scripts, software or plug-ins, or even unfair cheat modifications, necessary actions will be taken against them. These actions will not be limited to just warnings or account suspensions.
As there are two types of road in life (a good one and a bad one), Genshin Impact also has two types of mods. One is the cheating type mode while the other is a cosmetic type mod.
COSMETIC MODS
The cosmetic type mods do not affect the game play system in any way, rather it is simply a change in the loading screen art or even a change of colour in the characters clothes and such.
The developers are mainly in support of the cosmetic type of mod community. They collect data, take the opinions of the players and also encourage them to come up with new ideas.
HOW MODDING HELPED OTHER GAMES
Modding of games is what has kept them alive for many years after their release. Take at look at any big hit title over the past 10 years, you will find games with either a huge fanbase or with a modding community that is still popular. For example, the GTA series games. GTA San Andreas was released in 2003, and is still very much popular even after almost two decades. Reasons being largely due to its strong modding community. Another game Minecraft, has a huge fan base as well as a strong modding community which has helped it implement some cool features that was initially overlooked by the game’s developer(Microsoft Studios). A strong modding community support is vital for a game to survive among it’s audience for long time.
AVAILABILITY
Genshin Impact have both good and bad type mods, but they are not publicized due to the simple fact that they might get banned or worse face legal action. So despite there being cosmetic mods created by mod developers, normal players can’t still use them without taking the risk of getting banned by miHoyo.
PLAYER’S FEEDBACK
Players on community forums like reddit have asked numerous times for the availability of mods. These include collectible markers, custom player skins, loading screen custom art and so on. However, the developers maintain their strict zero tolerance policy regarding this.
Remaining hopeful that the developer, miHoYo, might support mods in Genshin Impact in the near future.
