Forza Motorsport DualSense (PS5) Controller Not Recognized on PC Issue: Is there any fix yet

The Forza franchise has always been renowned for its stunning visuals, realistic driving physics, and the thrill of racing. Forza Motorsport, part of the popular Forza franchise and the latest release, immerses players in a world of high-speed racing, realistic car models, and intricate details on the tracks. Gamers are often drawn to its exceptional graphics and physics engine that closely simulate real-world driving. These factors, combined with the thrill of competing against other players, make Forza Motorsport a sought-after title for racing game enthusiasts. However, a recent issue has been plaguing PC gamers who are enthusiastic about the game but are unable to enjoy it to the fullest due to problems in the game as it fails to recognize the PlayStation 5 DualSense controller. If you too are struggling with the same, consider reading this guide for more details.

In racing games like Forza Motorsport, having a controller is better than using the traditional mouse and keyboard combination. So, while playing a racing game with a controller, precise control over acceleration, braking, steering, and other functions can significantly impact a player’s success in the game. Any issues with controller recognition can hinder the overall enjoyment of the game and make it unplayable. This problem is not only frustrating but also hampers the gameplay experience, as the controller remains unresponsive within the game. So, is there a fix for this issue?

Unfortunately, as of writing this article, there is no official fix for this issue. However, issues with controllers are not new to PC games. Therefore, we have shared some potential workarounds that can help you play the game with your PS5 controller uninterrupted.

Check the Controller

In addressing controller-related issues, players can begin by updating the drivers for their controllers, ensuring that the devices are using the latest software for optimal compatibility. If using a wireless controller, switching to a wired connection can sometimes resolve connection problems. Additionally, if an alternative controller is available, connecting it can help determine whether the issue lies with the specific controller or the game itself, allowing players to identify the source of the problem and take appropriate action.

Install DS4

To address the issue of the PlayStation 5 DualSense controller not being recognized in Forza Motorsport on PC, players have found a practical solution. So, what you need to do is download and install software called “DS4Windows”. This software acts as an emulator, allowing the DualSense controller to mimic an Xbox 360 controller, which is more readily compatible with many PC games.

The process starts with ensuring that your PlayStation controller is connected and recognized by your PC. You can verify this by pressing “WINDOWS + R” and typing “joy.cpl.” If the DualSense controller appears on the list, you’re on the right track. After installing DS4Windows, it’s essential to make sure that you press “Start” in the software’s interface, located at the bottom right. A crucial step here is to tick the box that says “Hide DS4 Controller.” After that, launch the game and see if the controller starts working.

Download HidHide

To eliminate double input issues that might occur through DS4Windows, the HidHide application has proven to be effective. This application prevents unwanted input conflicts and ensures smoother controller functionality. For more details on this, you can refer to the following video by Ali N’cir. You can download HidHide by clicking here.

Steam Settings

To prevent conflicts with controller recognition, players should disable any Steam controller emulator or conversion settings. This can be done within the Steam application by clicking on the Settings option located at the top left. Within the Controller section, it’s advisable to deactivate all options for external controllers except for the “PlayStation controller” while installing the necessary support drivers for enhanced Xbox functionality. A system restart may be required for these changes to take effect.

Don’t provide keyboard input

When launching Forza Motorsport, it’s crucial not to interact with your keyboard and instead rely on your mouse to let the game load initially. After the game has fully loaded, proceed to provide input via your controller. Doing so should prompt the game to display the Xbox controller layout for your PS5 controller. If the input isn’t recognized, consider removing all the peripherals except for the controller after launching the game.

Well, with the help of these workarounds, you should be able to play the game with the PS5 controller on your PC without any issues. Anyway, we hope this guide was informative.
