In today’s era of gaming, realism is the most important factor for a game to be successful. Likewise, there are many games that offer extraordinary levels of realism. Unrecord, for example, has been the prime focus for a couple of months due to its insane visuals. That being said, there are multiple in-game elements combined together to provide the ultimate in-game experience. One such element is Motion Blur. This setting, although contributing to a more realistic experience, can cause severe motion sickness and nausea. Well, the same has been the case with players of Final Fantasy XVI. With the game’s recent release, players have been complaining about the high motion blur effects that it features, which caused them to pause their session due to distortion. So, this begs the question: How do you disable motion blur in Final Fantasy 16? Well, what’s important to question is whether an option to toggle the motion blur setting exists in the game. If you are looking for more details on the same, consider reading this guide until the end.

Being a single-player action RPG game, Final Fantasy XVI has managed to offer something new to the fans of the longtime series by bringing more fast-paced combat into the scene. The game, however, retains most of the elements of the previous installments and improves upon them. That being said, it also retains the infamous motion blur feature. Players have been complaining about the abysmal amount of motion blur effects since the release of the game’s demo, and most were convinced that a toggle for it would be released in the full version. However, this didn’t happen.

Final Fantasy 16 (FFXVI): How to disable Motion Blur

As of now, you cannot disable Motion Blur in Final Fantasy XVI; however, you can lower its intensity. Yes, this is in fact possible, but it comes at a cost. You will have to select the Performance mode to lower the motion blur effects in FFXVI. Doing so will, however, lower the visual quality. Anyway, it is still better than having to deal with the annoying motion blur effects. So, to reduce motion blur, here are the steps you need to follow:

  • While in-game, press the menu button on your controller to open the Settings menu.
  • Head to the System tab using the R2/L2 buttons.
  • After this, navigate to the Graphics Settings tab, and you will find the Game Performance option.
  • Here, you need to select the Frame Rate option.

After you are done saving the changes, you will notice that the motion blur effects are significantly reduced.

Motion blur toggle? (upcoming patch)

Well, we do have some good news to share. The developers at Square Enix have stated that they are working on bringing a Motion Blur toggle feature to the game in an upcoming update. However, no further details are revealed. So, until an official patch is released, you will have to resort to using the Frame Rate mode to deal with the motion blur.
