Farming Simulator (FS) 22: How to make & produce Silage –
Silage Bales –
For Silage Bales, you will have to grow grass as well as mow it. After growing as well as mowing enough grass, you have to go to the Store >> Tools >> Balers and purchase equipment that has both a baler as well as a wrapper, preferably the Claas Rollant 455 RC Uniwarp. Otherwise, you can also purchase one without a wrapper, then, you have to purchase the wrapper separately from the Bale Wrapper section.
You can purchase the round bale wrapper. Then, you can start using the baler and wrapper equipment over the already cut grass. They will start wrapping the grass in bales and unload. Likewise, you also click on the Z button for the automatic dropping of the Bales. Finally, you have to start fermenting the Silage to obtain Silage Bales.
Grass Silage –
Firstly, you have to mow your grass. Then, you have to purchase a Loading wagon or Forage wagon. Likewise, you can also purchase Silage Additive tanks with the wagon. Now, you have to build Bunker Silo trails that can be accessed from the build menu. Then, you can start unloading the grasses into the silos using your Loading wagon. But before doing so, you have to open the Help Menu to see the level of chaff as well as compaction. You will have to hit Ctrl+I to start unloading the grass in the Bunker Silo.
The grasses turn into chaff after unloading into the silos. After unloading the grass, you have to start driving over the chaff to compact it. Otherwise, you can also use a leveler as well as a compactor unit. Then, you have to walk up to your chaff and press R to blanket the silos. Now, you have to wait for the fermentation to complete. Finally, you can use a Frontloader, a wheel loader/ telehandler with a bucket, etc for scooping up the Grass Silage.
Chaff Silage –
Well, for Chaff Silage, you will have to grow corn. You can use a Forage harvester to chop the corn and attach a trailer to it as well to store the chaff. Likewise, a very useful Forage harvester for this purpose is a Krone Big X 1100. After chopping the corn, you have to unload it to a silage unloading spot. Finally, you have to blanket the spot to ferment and obtain a Chaff Silage.
Silage Additive –
Using a Silage Additive can reduce spoilage as well as loss. Likewise, it can also improve fermentation in the silo and increase your Silage yield. Therefore, you can add Silage Additives into Forage harvesters to get more yield.
