F1 24 1.3 Patch update brings more stability & fixes (Check notes here)

In the gaming landscape, annual releases often face criticism for their lack of innovation, with each new installment feeling like a mere copy of its predecessor with all but minor adjustments. The F1 series has been no exception to this critique. That being said, with the launch of F1 24, developers have taken player feedback seriously, addressing bugs and other issues that surfaced after the game’s full release. Now, they’ve rolled out the 1.3 patch update for the game, promising increased stability and fixes. So, in this article, we’ll go into the nitty gritty of this update and tell you all that you need to know about the F1 24 1.3 Patch update.

Players had various complaints about F1 24 after its full launch. Some reported encountering bugs that caused the game to crash unexpectedly. Others pointed out issues with frame rate drops or stuttering during races. Handling changes

  • Improved tire model response to rapid changes in slip angle and ratio.
  • Adjusted slip curves for better post-peak falloff, load sensitivity, and camber effects.
  • Modified tire thermal model for better high-temperature behavior.
  • Tuned ABS, traction control, and gamepad controls to align with the new tire model.
  • Power unit balance has been improved in the 7th and 8th gears.
  • Gear ratios and suspension kinematics now match the 2024 race data and car designs.
  • Adjusted performance for several teams to fit the 2024 season results up to the Monaco GP.
  • Fixed MGU-K torque issue and calibrated Hotlap mode energy use at all tracks.
  • Changes have been made to the front end of the car, providing a more realistic grip and turn-in capabilities, along with changes to the controllability on the throttle, which should help players using a wheel without assists
  • AI racers are also being re-tuned for better unpredictability in Career mode, with more improvements expected in future updates.

General

  • All leaderboards for F1 2024 cars have been reset to align with the handling update, which we will discuss further.
  • You can now add trophies to the Trophy Cabinet, enhancing their in-game achievements.
  • The issue where the “Strong Relations” Achievement/Trophy was not unlocking for some has also been fixed.
  • The ERS Battery won’t drain excessively after reaching the per-lap usage limit.
  • Moving between Goal Vendors in F1 World is now easier with tab navigation.
  • F1 World Upgrade Card Mods and Goals have been improved for smoother progression.

Career changes

  • AI drivers in Career mode are now more prone to experiencing component faults and failures during races, adding realism and unpredictability.
  • Two Player Career mode has been fixed to prevent instances of skipping or getting stuck during Contract Negotiations.
  • A rare issue in Two Player Career where both players restarting their game could lead to desynchronization has been addressed.
  • Another rare occurrence in Two Player Career, causing the wrong driver name to be added, has been rectified.
  • Retiring from a race on the first lap will no longer increase the player’s Pace statistic.
  • An issue where Specialists could incorrectly become unavailable in Driver Career has been resolved.
  • When comparing drivers in later seasons of Career mode, all drivers will now be correctly placed in their respective teams.
  • The Agent Introduction Cinematic has been improved as well.

Visual Fixes

  • Ray Tracing’s reflection quality will appear more real.
  • Dynamic objectives will no longer have deadlines beyond the final lap of the race.
  • When a dynamic objective is assigned, the MFD (Multi-Function Display) will now automatically open to the relevant page.
  • The Copy Livery screen now accurately displays colors.
  • Accessing the Casual Wear store from Driver Career mode will consistently show correctly modeled custom drivers.
  • Fixed a rare issue where flashing back after Terminal Damage caused all track sectors to appear red.
  • Some F1 24 & F2 23 vehicles have received visual improvements.
  • More Carbon Fibre particles have been added during collisions in Replays.
  • Replay Camera and Cinematic Safety Car Camera enhancements have been made at several tracks.

Other changes

  • Race Engineer pitstop lines in various languages have been corrected.
  • Commentators will no longer remain silent after a race in certain languages.
  • Incorrect Engineer Audio during a Cinematic Safety Car has been removed.
  • In multiplayer races, F1 World ability mods now last the correct duration for players with poor connections.
  • Yellow Flags are now visible for retired Spectators in multiplayer mode.
  • The marginal increase in speed when partially driving on grass has been eliminated.
  • Extreme overheating of tires in specific conditions has been prevented.
  • UDP Options are now capped at 60Hz, requiring users with higher settings to adjust accordingly.
  • Support for the Asetek Invicta™ Direct Drive Wheelbase has been added.
  • Additional Casual Wear customization items have been included.
  • Various UI improvements have been implemented across different sections of the game.
