There’s a new golf game in town and to no surprise, it’s by EA. Titled EA Sports PGA Tour, the game was released on 7th April of this year on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows. Developed on DICE’s Frostbite engine, it was made by Electronic Arts subsidiary – EA Tiburon. This latest installment of the PGA Tour series promises a lot of new and exciting features like Pure Strike, Ball Behavior, and more. However, a new game means new bugs and errors. EA Sports PGA Tour suffers from that same age-old problem. One of the major issues is players encountering a DirectX Error which has been restricting them from even launching the game.
Errors like these have been around way longer. At this point, the gaming industry has made its peace with the idea of not being able to fix bugs and errors permanently. But it’s not like these types of things don’t have any fixes or such. On the contrary, there are lots of workarounds available. You just have to try each of them one by one and see if any of them fixes the error.
EA Sports PGA Tour DirectX Error: How To Fix It
Some of these fixes are shared by EA community managers themselves. And due to things like the low report rate of the error, they are yet to pass this on to the devs. Meanwhile, you can check out some of these workarounds and see if they are able to fix the DirectX Error in the game.
Clear the app cache –
If you are using the EA app to launch the game, you can try clearing the app cache. To do so, click on the three dashes located in the far-left corner of the EA app. Navigate to Help > App recovery > Clear Cache. Consoles like PlayStation and Xbox don’t have any clear cache button, players can instead use the turn off-turn on method. Usually doing this gets rid of the console cache.
Verify your game files –
Missing game files can be a cause for such an error. An easy fix is to verify them and see if the game files are in check. In case you are using Steam, just go to the Library and select EA Sports PGA Tour. Right-click on the game to select Properties. Next, choose Local Files > Verify the integrity of game files.
For EA App users, go to My Collection > EA Sports PGA Tour > Options > Repair. And EGS users need to select Library > EA Sports PGA Tour > Options > Manage > Verify.
Install your Visual C++ files for the game –
Due to outdated Visual C++ files on your system, the DirectX error can occur. So, to fix this, download the install the latest version from here.
Remove overclocking and undervolting software –
Running any software which is causing your GPU to either run overclocked or undervolted, could also be a cause behind this error. It’s better to uninstall such applications and run the GPU/CPU at default clock speeds. Try running the game after you have removed such software.
Update your GPU drivers and system –
An outdated system can also cause problems like these. So, you should update your graphics drivers along with Windows to the latest version, and then run the game.
Turn on high-performance settings –
This step is for users who have dual GPUs on their system. For this, users need to click on Start and type “Graphics Settings”. Add the game under the “Graphic performance preference” option. Next, select Options and you will notice three options – Let Windows decide, Power saving, and High performance. Opt for the High-Performance option. This will make sure that the game runs on the dedicated GPU and hopefully fix the issue.
If the problem persists, you can contact EA support regarding the same. The article will be updated once the devs release any major fix to this problem. So, don’t forget to keep DigiStatement bookmarked.
