Doom The Dark Ages Multiplayer Mode Is it coming

Doom: The Dark Ages is scheduled for a May 15, 2025, release, and the hype is absolutely real. Many like yourself are gearing up to step back into the blood-soaked boots of the DOOM Slayer once again. As launch day creeps closer, one big question is popping up across forums and comment sections: Will Doom: The Dark Ages have multiplayer? After all, demon-slaying is great, but demon-slaying with friends or family? Even better. Whether you’re hoping for a classic deathmatch, a co-op campaign, or just some chaotic fun in Hell with your squad, it’s natural to wonder if the latest entry in the DOOM franchise will let you bring others along for the carnage. Well, here is what we know so far.

Many players crave co-op and multiplayer modes in games like Doom because gaming has long been a shared experience! Something best enjoyed alongside friends. Older entries in the DOOM franchise included multiplayer and co-op features that allowed players to team up or go head-to-head. Even DOOM Eternal introduced Battlemode, a creative PvP twist. Considering all this history, it is understandable why many fans want a similar mode in the new game as well.

Doom The Dark Ages Multiplayer Mode Is it coming

Doom: The Dark Ages is, without a doubt, locked in as a strictly single-player experience, at least for now. id Software hasn’t dropped a single hint about any kind of multiplayer, co-op, or even a PvP mode being in the works. It’s clear the developers are laser-focused on crafting a refined, cinematic, and tightly paced solo campaign that dives deep into the origin and rage of the DOOM Slayer. For some fans, this is actually good news; they see it as a return to the roots, where the story and atmosphere get the spotlight without distractions. But on the flip side, some are frustrated, viewing the lack of any multiplayer as a massive missed opportunity, especially in an era where co-op demon-slaying or split-screen carnage is a new norm. Whatever side you’re on, one thing’s for sure: when Doom: The Dark Ages drops on May 15, it’s going to be a solo ride through hell! Just you, your weapons, and an army of demons to tear through.

Will a multiplayer mode ever be available?

While there’s always a sliver of hope that multiplayer features could be added down the line, perhaps through a future update, DLC, or a spin-off inspired by strong fan demand, right now, that’s purely speculation. The developers at id Software haven’t made any promises or even hinted at adding co-op or online modes, so holding out for a surprise announcement might just lead to disappointment. Sure, if Doom: The Dark Ages blows up in popularity and enough players make noise about wanting multiplayer, there’s a slim chance the studio might reconsider. But realistically, that feels like a long shot. For now, all we can do is embrace the single-player journey and keep our fingers crossed that maybe, just maybe, the devs will eventually change their minds.
