French video game studio Gameloft seems to have migrated towards PC and console game development lately. These days, the makers of the popular NOVA and Asphalt series of games are releasing games like The Oregon Trail and Disney Dreamlight Valley. And on April 18th, they published yet another new game tied to the Disney franchise. Called Disney Speedstorm, it happens to be a kart racer that takes clear inspiration from Nintendo’s massively popular Mario Kart series. It’s no doubt that Mario Kart reigns supreme in this genre. Spanning a three-decade history, many have tried to replicate Mario Kart’s success, but they are yet to succeed. Will Gameloft be able to pull that off? Well, that remains to be seen. But what we can see is that early adopters and fans want to know more about the game. Likewise, if you are a player wondering how you can play split-screen multiplayer in Disney Speedstorm, this guide has everything covered.
Disney Speedstorm might be a new genre to tackle for Gameloft but they have been on the scene for a long time. And they have got skills to back that up. Their Asphalt series of racing games have been around since 2004 and is clearly the company’s best-known series of games besides Modern Combat and NOVA. Disney Speedstorm marks a new chapter in the studio’s life as they try to establish itself in the PC/console game development world. Anyways, coming back to our topic, let’s discuss how to play split-screen multiplayer in the game.
Disney Speedstorm: How to play splitscreen multiplayer?
Currently, you can only split-screen multiplayer in the “Local Freeplay” game mode. The game does have several other multiplayer modes, namely Ranked Multiplayer, Regulated Multiplayer, and Private Track but only Local Freeplay allows you to play the game on split-screen. As the name suggests, in this mode, you can race your friends or family locally without connecting to the internet. All you need is a bunch of controllers and you are good to go.
You can have a maximum of four human players in Local Freeplay if you are on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. And in case you happen to be running the game on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, there can only be up to two human players in Local Freeplay. So, to access this mode, launch the game, and head to the game menu. Here, select the Local Freeplay (split screen) option. Now, select the number of players to start the match, and have fun. Well, you can also opt for either a race track of your choice or roll a random one. Lastly, you can customize race settings too depending on your choice.
- CPU Difficulty ranges from Very Easy, Easy, Medium, Hard, Very Hard
- Laps range from 1 to 8
- Speed ranks as Fast, Faster, Super Fast
- CPU racers range from 0-7
Since Disney Speedstorm is in early access, you can hope that Gameloft might allow split-screen multiplayer for other modes too. If or when that happens, we will update this article right away. Meanwhile, check out DigiStatement to know about all the happenings going on in the world of gaming.
