Diablo 4 "Device sent too many requests to the server" Error on PS5: Is there any fix yet

Mark your calendars for June 5–6 (based on your region) 2023, as Blizzard releases Diablo 4. The game will be available for Windows, PlayStation 4|5, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One. There’s no sign of a Nintendo Switch release, though. If you want, you can go ahead and purchase the Digital Deluxe or Ultimate Edition of Diablo 4, which will give you early access to the game right now. Lots of players have already done so and are having a blast with the game. While early access has been surprisingly smooth considering it is a Blizzard game, there are still some critical issues that need to be addressed. Players have been complaining about an error while playing the game on their PS5 that displays the following message: “Device sent too many requests to the server”.

Diablo 4 is an online-only game. Why did Blizzard decide to make this game only online? That’s the kind of question to which we don’t know the answer. For some reason, Blizzard decided to go with this approach instead of offering a separate offline mode. Due to this, any issues with the game servers will directly impact players, whether they like it or not. But like any other problem, these can be fixed too. So, what’s the fix for the “Device sent too many requests to the server” error on PS5? Let’s find out!

At the time of writing this article, no official fix has been released for this error. PS5 players must make do with the following workarounds until Blizzard sends a patch. This is a widespread issue, so we are confident the developers will fix this error soon. Meanwhile, try these workarounds.

Restart the game –

Let’s try basic troubleshooting first. Restarting the game can sometimes fix the most trivial issues, so give it a chance. Although note that the current queue time to play Diablo 4 on PS5 is somewhat long.

Restart your PS5 –

If restarting Diablo 4 doesn’t work, then try doing the same with your PlayStation 5. Just press the “PS” button on your controller to open the Control Center quick menu. Scroll to the right-hand side of the screen and select the “Power” option there. Choose “Restart PS5” to finish the process.

Update Diablo 4 –

It’s always a good idea to keep your game updated. Fixes, new content, and such are always tied to updates, so try your luck with updating Diablo 4.

Check the server status of Diablo 4 –

If the servers are going under maintenance, then you won’t be able to play the game. The best way to check server status is to follow the game’s official Twitter handle, since any updates regarding the game and its server status are most likely to be announced there. For more details on the same, click here.

Check PSN server status –

The cause behind this error could be PSN (PlayStation Network) too. Thankfully, Sony has a dedicated website where you can check if the PSN servers are down or not. If the servers are down, you need to wait until they are back online.

Try again after some time –

Since the game has been launched recently via early access, tons of players are joining in. This might be too much for the game’s servers to handle, which is why you are getting the error. So, instead of trying generic workarounds, consider playing the game after a while. The issue should be fixed automatically.

You can also contact Blizzard support if the issue persists. Well, that was all about fixing the Diablo 4 “Device sent too many requests to the server” error on PS5. For more guides on Diablo 4, don’t forget to bookmark DigiStatement.
