Dead Island 2 is an upcoming horror-action survival game. Its story follows the events after several months of Dead Island and Escape Dead Island. The game has been in a long development since its announcement a long back ago at E3 2014. Dead Island 2: Everything About Release Date Of Game
There is no first-hand information available regarding Dead Island 2 but we know that the game is set in California including locations such as Santa Monica Pier, Hollywood and many parts of San Fransisco. According to Deep Silver, the game features four playable characters and eight players coop mode.
The game was revealed a long back ago at E3 in 2014 which made fans heartened in hope for getting a full action-packed zombie killing game, but the game hasn’t released even after five years. The biggest problem game facing is its development cycle.
Since 2014, Dead Island 2 has changed developer for many times. In July 2015, Yager studio dropped the development of then the game was passed to an unnamed developer. In 2016, Sumo Digital took over the development and now earlier this year Dambuster Studios took responsibility for the development of the game.
Many people were thinking that game is not going to be released, but the rumours ended when, CEO of publisher Koch Media, Klemens Kundratitz answered the questions in an interview taken by Gamesindustry.biz. Klemens Kundratitz also owns Deep Silver and is, in turn, part of THQ Nordic.
When he was asked about the sequel’s release he said “Look, Dead Island is a very important brand for us and we’ve got to get it right. It’s just a testimony of our dedication to get it right.”
“It’s a great story to tell everyone that it’s on its third studio, but we like to be judged on the end result and we’re really confident that when it comes out it’s going to be a kick-ass zombie game. We’ll certainly give it all our power.”
A Reddit u/MrJaxerino user who claims of having information on Dead Island 2 has also stated that the game is under development. In his post, he stated that ” the team is looking to target a 2020 release to launch alongside the PS5 and Xbox Scarlett. Also, the team is also apparently working on some new gore technology that utilizes sub polygon displacement. I am in no way an expert on these things but that is what I was told. Finally, as a kind of obvious statement, the team at THQ Nordic does have PS5 dev kits and they do in fact look like the leaks.”
One thing is clear that the game still exists but there is no announcement regarding the release date has been made yet. But, we can expect something big at E3 2020.
