Dead Island 2 arrives on all major platforms except the Switch, after getting delayed for an eternity. Developed by Dambuster Studios and published by Deep Silver, it takes place seventeen years after the events of the previous two games – Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide. This latest title from Deep Silver continues the zombie-killing fun the franchise is known for and even lets you do it with your buddies via multiplayer. However, there are reports of players facing multiplayer desync issues in the game. If you have encountered the same, consider reading till the end to find out more about this issue.
For the uninitiated, a desync is something that happens when the connection between the server and client-side gets disrupted leading to real-time movements of a player’s hitbox registering either lately or not at all. This is an age-old problem in video games and is still relevant today. Some people also call desync – lag. And if you have played any online game ever, you know how horrible it can be. Multiplayer desync is just the desynchronization that occurs during multiplayer. So, is there any fix for this issue in Dead Island 2? Let’s find out.
Dead Island 2 Multiplayer Desync Issue: Is there any fix yet
Well, as of now, there are no official fixes released for this issue. The devs are yet to acknowledge it, so it will probably take some time before a fix is released. Meanwhile, you can try some potential workarounds for the same-
Cap your fps to 60 –
You can try capping the game’s FPS at 60 to solve the issue. Additionally, ask your multiplayer buddies to cap their game’s FPS at 60 as well. This workaround has been suggested by some players, so consider trying it.
Check your internet connection –
Since you are playing the game in multiplayer mode and desync happens to be an internet issue, it’s recommended that you check your connection properly. Ensure that you have a good enough internet connection to play multiplayer games.
Use ethernet instead of wifi –
If you have the option of connecting to an Ethernet or Wifi, always choose the former. Ethernet provides a consistent wired connection to your internet. Plus, you don’t have to worry about other devices interfering with your network connection. An ethernet connection always provides low latency in games and speed.
Disconnect other devices from your wifi connection –
In case you are not able to connect to the ethernet and have to use wifi, you should disconnect other devices that are connected to the router. This way, any interference from other devices would be eliminated.
Disable VPN –
Try avoiding using VPNs if you are playing a multiplayer game. VPNs lead to a lot of interruptions between the server and the client. Unless you are trying to access a region-locked game or trying to form a connection to game servers in other regions, don’t use VPN. Disable it and see if the desync issue is still there.
Restart your router –
Try restarting the router if you haven’t. Although we can’t say that this will fix the issue, it’s nonetheless one of the simpler fixes. Moreover, routers can sometimes malfunction or have an unknown issue or two, which by restarting can most likely be fixed.
We will be sure to update this article once the devs provide an official fix for the same. Don’t forget to bookmark us to get the latest on everything gaming,
