Dead by Daylight is a horror and survival video game developed and published by Behavior Interactive. The game was initially released for Microsoft Windows in 2016 and currently, it is available for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Android, iOS, Stadia, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. In this article, we will discuss the Dead by Daylight new progression update which developers say will cut the grind in the game by almost 75%. Let’s have a quick rundown of the gameplay before we get to the details of the update.
In Dead by Daylight or DBD for short, players are matched in a group of five–one of them being the murderous antagonist while the remaining four are the survivors. The killer then tries to catch each of the survivors and sacrifice them to a diabolic being known in-game as the Entity. The survivors on their own part try to avoid capture while fixing five generators which will help them in opening the exit gates to facilitate their escape.
The game’s availability on almost all mainstream consoles and platforms has exposed it to more criticisms, one of which is what many players call an annoying level of grinding. Grinding in gaming is basically the act where players are forced or voluntarily choose to run repetitive tasks or actions like repetitively killing an enemy or opening a door to achieve a certain outcome, like unlocking a skill or level. Grinding in some games helps slow players to level up very fast. However, there are games with ridiculous grinding with little to no gain, and apparently, Dead by Daylight is among them. This is about to change, as the new update is likely to cut grinding by a whopping 75%. Let’s discuss it in detail.
Dead by Daylight New Progression Update
We have confirmation from the developers that there will be a new progression update and it comes with a lot of exciting changes. Developers observed players grind a lot to achieve less, grinding for 7 hours to unlock some basic perks in some instances. Usually, players randomly find teachable perks in the Bloodweb but with the new update, the character’s perks will be updated once a player reaches a level of prestige with the character. With the new update, you can now buy perks directly from The Shrine of Secrets, and you can repurchase perks to upgrade your character. For more details on the update, head here.
