Dead by Daylight is an intense isometric horror online multiplayer video game from the developer studio, Behaviour Interactive. The game is a 5-player asymmetrical or 4vs1 multiplayer online game. It is a game that is available on almost all mainstream platforms such as PC, Xbox, Playstation, Nintendo Switch, Google Stadia, iOS, and also on Android. In this article, the possible solutions for the long waiting times during matchmaking in Dead by Daylight will be discussed.

Matchmaking Problems in Dead by DaylightDead by Daylight Matchmaking

Extremely long queue times are one of the most annoying issues with online games. The slow matchmaking issue in Dead by Daylight is one of the biggest causes of players’ frustration in the game. The multiplayer matches in the game are done peer-to-peer. Consequently, this means that the matchmaking system has to work hard to find people who are at least of somewhat close geographic locations with decent ping to match up together. This results in long wait times to find people to match up with similar connection capabilities.

How to Fix Slow Matchmaking Issue

Here are some fixes & workarounds available online:

  • Players can sometimes speed up the queue by switching the killers they are playing with.
  • Some players get a faster queue by just playing the Survivor mode.
  • Turning off the Crossplay option in the game’s main menu may fix long matchmaking. This is because it reduces the number of survivors, thus giving you quicker survivor lobbies.

Additionally, the long matchmaking issue & wait times are mainly due to server-related problems. Thus, the best option for players to do in this case is to provide feedback to the dev team. A fix in the form of new dedicated servers & patch updates is the best solution in this regard. Likewise, players sometimes face server-related complications that hinder their matchmaking. Therefore, one of the easiest options for a fix, in this case, is to simply exit & restart the game. One other common cause of slow matchmaking is online connection issues. Thus, players should always make sure to have a stable & decent speed connection.

Do note that there are currently no official solutions for a permanent fix for the matchmaking issues. Also, you can read more info on the game here
