Dave the Diver Colorblind Mode: Is it Coming?

Colorblind Mode in Dave the Diver

If we had told you a year ago that we were going to have a game that perfectly merges deep sea diving with restaurant management, would you have believed us? Mintrocket’s Dave the Diver has achieved exactly this, and the fans love it. The game came out for PC players on June 28, 2023 (after being in early access) and is a huge hit. It’s quite understandable that fans will enjoy playing a game that perfectly combines adventure with restaurant simulation. The reviews on Steam reflect the fan sentiment accurately, with the ratings being Overwhelmingly Positive (both recently and all-time). However, the cocktail mini-game in Dave the Diver has hit a little speed bump, with colorblind people facing difficulties with the gameplay. It’s hard for them to distinguish between different colors of cocktails, and thus, there is a need for a colorblind mode in Dave the Diver. Will the developers add it? Let’s find out!

With the expansion of the gaming industry, there’s a need for the games to be more inclusive so that everyone can enjoy them. With all the flashy, colorful visuals that we have in the games, it’s quite difficult for colorblind players to accurately distinguish between different colors. A number of games have found the perfect solution to this: a colorblind mode. This adjusts the game’s colors so that colorblind people will be able to enjoy it as well. Games that have integrated this feature include Aliens: Dark Descent, Battlefield 2042, Hogwarts Legacy, and more. So, with the players requesting this feature in Dave the Diver, can we expect the developers to take note?

Dave the Diver Colorblind Mode: Is it Coming?

Colorblind Mode in Dave the Diver

As of now, Dave the Diver doesn’t offer a colorblind mode, and there has been no announcement on this either. The game is, however, still playable for colorblind players until the cocktail mini-game is encountered. Preparing a cocktail requires the players to match and mix differently colored drinks, which has proved to be a difficult job for them. Unfortunately, for many, the green and red colors appear identical, and this has restricted them from completing this task.

Player Concern

The issue was raised by Steam user Filed_Lice in a thread on the game’s discussion forum. The user wrote that although they “absolutely adore” the game, the lack of a colorblind option has been an issue. For them, pouring the cocktails has been a seemingly impossible task, as the red and green colors appear identical. Other players have not only seconded this opinion but have also expressed that if a colorblind mode is not available, then the developers should change the color of the drinks instead. However, this seems to be more of a stopgap option than a sustainable long-term fix.

Workaround?

Something that the players can do if they’re having trouble pouring the drinks is hire an employee named Drae and assign this task to him. That way, they won’t have to pour the cocktail themselves and can save themselves the trouble. Regardless, the colorblind mode is still a requirement, and the players need it. However, there has been no announcement from the developers regarding this yet. Although Mintrocket has shown a trend of acknowledging player concerns in their Hotfixes, we can’t tell for sure if this is going to be the case with the colorblind mode. It’s still very much a possibility, but we should wait for an official announcement before we get our hopes up.

Well, this is all we have on the colorblind mode in Dave the Diver. Hopefully, you found this article insightful and engaging. If you want to read more such gaming-related content, don’t forget to visit DigiStatement!
