In November 2007, German developer Crytek released the first title in the Crysis series. Crysis, the first-person shooter video game, became the most popular game of 2007 in no time and received PC Gamer’s highest review rating of all time. The Crysis series revolves around a group of military protagonists with “nanosuits”, who fight against hostile North Korean soldiers, heavily armed mercenaries, and a race of technologically advanced aliens known as the Ceph.
After the massive success of the first part of Crysis, Crytek continued the series with a sequel – Crysis 2. It was launched globally in 2011, after the 2008’s spinoff – Crysis Warhead. Crysis 2 brings the story in 2023’s New York City, three years after the original Crysis. Well, again, Crytek gathered appreciation from the gamers and critics all over the world.

But, things didn’t go as planned with the third title of Crysis. Crysis 3, the last installment in the trilogy, was criticized for its story, level design, length, and outdated mechanics in comparison to its predecessors. With a budget of $66 million, a total of 205,000 copies were sold in its debut month, and that’s how Crysis 3 became a commercial failure for the publisher, Electronic Arts.
Well, it’s 2020, and Crysis has become the part of discussion once again. As it’s official now, the remastered version of Crysis is in the pipeline.
Crysis Remastered Release Date –
Crysis is once again in talks. It all started when the official Twitter handle of Crysis posted a tweet for the first time since 2006, saying “RECEIVING DATA.” Well, that one tweet was enough to break the internet. the hype was real, fans all over the world started creating their own theories on what could be the name of the next title. Where many fans were expecting the fourth installment of Crysis, Crytek, on April 16, officially announced that Crysis Remastered is releasing soon.
According to the official press release, Crytek is teaming up with Saber Interactive, the creators of original titles like NBA Playgrounds, World War Z, and remastered titles like Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered.
With the joint efforts of both the studios, the Crysis Remastered will be featuring the advanced video game graphics tech like temporal anti-aliasing, SSDO, SVOGI, reworked lighting, motion blur, volumetric fog, ray tracing, screen-space reflections, and parallax occlusion mapping. All these features will be bringing the remastered version of Crysis in the right way.
So, what’s the status? What’s the release date?
Well, for now, the official date for the release has not been announced yet by Crytek. The official website and official trailer just say – “game is coming soon”. But in the official press release, Crytek mentions that Crysis Remastered will roll out officially in SUMMER 2020. It looks we have to wait for a bit for the exact arrival date.
What platforms will Crysis Remastered be available on?
We were expecting Crysis Remastered to release with the support of next-generation Playstation and Xbox. But, with the official announcement, Crytek made it clear that the new Crysis will be available on Playstation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
Well, the “SUMMER 2020″ release also justifies that the new Crysis title won’t be available for the next-gen consoles.
