Just a few more days until COD: Modern Warfare 3 sees its official release on November 10. But certain players have already gotten their hands on the campaign part of the game, thanks to the pre-order early access. And the reviews for that aren’t so great. Well, it’s not the only thing that’s been a source of disappointment. Players have been complaining about a myriad of issues in the game, which we certainly hope Sledgehammer looks into and fixes ASAP. Anyway, this guide, in particular, will focus on the Instance Inventory is Idle issue in COD MW3 and help you in fixing it.
This particular issue mostly affects players who are playing DMZ mode. When in effect, this issue makes players unable to enter DMZ mode and such. Now, while we can’t find the root cause of this issue, we certainly have some fixes that will be helpful. So, continue reading to find out what they are.
COD Modern Warfare 3 (MW3) “Instance Inventory is Idle” Issue: Is there any fix yet
For now, you can try the following workarounds and see if any of them are of help, as Sledgehammer is yet to acknowledge this issue. Try not to skip any workarounds unless you have already tried them before.
Restart –
Start with a quick restart of the game so as to check out if this is just a one-time glitch or something else. See what happens after you restart the game, and if the results are unfavorable, try this next fix.
Switch to Battle Royale mode and then switch back to DMZ –
This particular workaround seemed to somewhat work in Warzone 2.0, so we suggest you give it a try. Now, if you happen to be facing this idle inventory issue in DMZ only, what you can do is switch to BR mode. Don’t start a match, though. A few seconds later, get out of BR mode, switch back to DMZ mode, and start a match. Hopefully, the issue will not be there after doing this. But if it persists, try another workaround.
Turn on crossplay –
Players who’ve had crossplay turned off can also try enabling it and then check whether the issue continues or not. If the issue persists, switch to the next method. You can enable crossplay by heading into the Options menu. After this, head over to Settings. Next, go to Network and find the Crossplay option.
Check server status –
You can even try checking the game’s server status to see if it’s either under maintenance or running normally. As for how to do it, just go to the official Online Services page and check there. If the servers are down, you will have to wait and try again after some time.
Reinstall –
Reinstalling is going to be quite a drastic step since MW3 has content amounting to more than 200GB. But if nothing else works, you can give this method a try. However, make sure that you have a reliable and fast internet connection so that you can download the entire game with ease.
Well, that’s all we’ve got on this topic for now. If you happen to be encountering the error code 0x887a0005 quite frequently in the game, check out this guide.
