Currently, the error does not have an official solution from the developers. It is important to note that the issue isn’t limited to one platform; it has affected players on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. The frustration shared by the community has led to a quest for workarounds that might help mitigate the problem, making it essential to consider the available options.

PC

Check Server Status

One of the initial steps in addressing Error Code 25509 is to verify the status of the game servers. It’s essential to rule out server-related issues that might be causing matchmaking problems. To check server status, visit the official Call of Duty website or follow their social media channels for any announcements regarding server outages or maintenance. If the servers are down, try playing after a while.

Restart the Game and Your Device

Restarting the game and your gaming device is a simple yet effective step. Sometimes, issues may be temporary and can be resolved by just restarting. To do this, exit the game, close it completely, and then relaunch it. Additionally, power cycle your gaming device by turning it off, unplugging it from the power source, waiting for a minute, and then plugging it back in before turning it on. This can help clear any temporary data or cache issues that might be affecting matchmaking.

Run as Admin

Another simple yet effective workaround at times is giving the game admin privileges. Just right-click on the game’s .exe file and select the Properties option. Here, in the Compatibility tab, you will find the option to run the game with admin privileges. Checkmark that option and launch the game to see if the error persists.

CMD commands

You can try out the commands given below that will essentially flush your DNS and reset the network settings, hopefully fixing the issue. So, to do this, just press the Windows key, type cmd, and then run the Command Prompt as an administrator. Now, copy these commands one by one and press Enter after each one.

  • ipconfig /flushdns
  • ipconfig /release
  • ipconfig /renew
  • netsh winsock reset

Check Your Internet Connection

A stable and fast internet connection is paramount for online gaming. If you’re experiencing Error Code 25509 in COD MW3, ensure that your internet connection is functioning correctly. To do this, conduct a speed test to check your download and upload speeds. If your connection is slower than expected, consider resetting your modem or router. Unplug them from the power source, wait for a minute, and then plug them back in to ensure a fresh and stable connection.

Change DNS

Changing DNS on a PC is simple. First, navigate to “Network and Internet” in Windows settings. Access your primary network connection’s IP assignment setting, then switch to manual DNS configuration. In the “Preferred DNS server” field, enter the following before saving the changes and starting the game.

  • Primary: 8.8.8.8
  • Secondary: 8.8.4.4

VPNs

If you have been making use of a VPN, perhaps it is the culprit behind this error. So, go ahead and disconnect from any foreign servers and remove any VPN program from running in the background. After that, launch the game and check if the issue still persists.

PS5 Players

Apart from a generic restart of the game and console, you can try the following workaround to try and get past error 25509 in COD MW3 on your PS5:

Change DNS

    • Primary DNS: 8.8.8.8.
    • Secondary DNS: 8.8.4.4.
  • After changing DNS settings, restart your PS5 and try launching the game again.

Rebuild Database

On a PlayStation console, rebuilding the database can often help clear minor issues affecting matchmaking. Here are the steps to rebuild the database on your PS console:

  • Turn off your PlayStation console.
  • Press and hold the power button until you hear a second beep (this may take about 7 seconds).
  • Connect your controller to the console using a USB cable and press the PlayStation button.
