COD Modern Warfare 2 (II) Black Screen Issue: How to fix it

There are a number of reasons which can result in this issue in your system. Let’s have a look at the different solutions that can work for you.

End Unnecessary Processes

Open Task Manager by clicking on the ‘Task Manager’ option after simultaneously pressing ‘CTRL+ALT+DEL’ on your keyboard. From there, end all the processes that might affect the performance of the game in any way. Target those processes that can show overlay while playing the game or can change your game files.

Allow the game through Firewall

Anti Virus, as well as Firewall, may restrict a few processes of the game to execute if they violate the security constraints even to a little extent. Head to the Start Menu search bar and search ‘Firewall’. Then, in the results, you will be able to find the ‘Firewall and Network Protection’ option. After clicking on it, click on ‘allow an app through Firewall’. Then, click on ‘Change Settings’ and ensure that ‘Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 (II)’ is checked. If the game process is not present there already, then click on ‘Allow another app’ option. Then, click on ‘Browse’ and navigate to the install location of the game. Then, choose the main game launcher.

Repair Game Files

Another method that you can try is to navigate to the BattleNet Launcher. Then, head to the settings of the game there and select ‘Scan and Repair’. On the other hand, if you use Steam, then first open the ‘Steam’ Client. Then, navigate to the Library and right-click on the game. After this, select Properties and then, navigate to the Local Files tab. After this, click on the ‘Verify Integrity of Game Files’ option. The files that are missing/corrupted will be replaced by this method.

Update Graphics Card Driver

Graphics Card is one of the main components due to which games run smoothly on the system. This is the reason why keeping the Graphics Card Drivers up-to-date is extremely important. Use the AMD Radeon Software or the NVIDIA GeForce Software according to the Graphics Card that you use. Open the app and then install the latest version of the drivers.

Image Scaling

Enable the Image Scaling option from settings (General) after opening the GeForce Experience app/ AMD Radeon app. This will make the game run in lower resolution too, thus boosting the game’s performance. It can also fix the Black Screen issue in the game.

Disable Full-Screen Optimization

Head to the game installation folder via Steam and, then right-click on the game’s .exe file and select ‘Properties’. In the Compatibility tab, check the ‘Disable Full Screen Optimization’ option. Then, click on ‘Apply Changes’. These fixes should be enough to fix the Black Screen issue in COD Modern Warfare 2 (II).
