Colossal Order’s Cities: Skylines 2 is finally here, and it’s not looking good. While the gameplay side of things has seen good improvement since the first title, it’s the technical side of things where the majority of the issue lies. CS2 is possibly one of the worst-optimized games of 2023, even giving Respawn’s Star Wars Jedi: Survivor a run for its money. Things have been so bad that the developers themselves are recommending iGPU players to refund the game. Then there are in-game bugs and errors. And among many of the game’s problems is the Not Enough Customers issue that players are complaining about.
As the name suggests, many players seem to be unable to get rid of the “not enough customers” message. The issue is so bad that the official Discord server is chock full of players asking how to deal with it. This message generally appears when commercial properties or businesses aren’t getting enough customers, resulting in less income. It’s a major issue since the health of a business is directly related to your income. So, what’s the reason behind this problem? Is there a fix yet? Continue reading to find out.
Cities Skylines 2 (II) Not Enough Customers Issue: Is there any fix yet
Try the following workarounds and see if they help in dealing with this issue. These are potential workarounds, so they aren’t guaranteed to fix the problem. However, they are worth a shot.
Ignore (only if low amount of warning is there) –
First of all, if you see that only a small number of businesses are warning about not getting enough customers, you can more or less ignore it. However, this doesn’t mean that you can just sit back and relax. Instead, what you should be doing is not zoning any more commercial spaces. Furthermore, you should wait for more people to move into your city so that there’s more commercial demand.
Get rid of some business –
If the situation is critical, the best thing to do at that moment is to simply eliminate some of your commercial properties. Now, when it comes to doing that, only get rid of the ones that are either running on a loss or are making less profit compared to others. Never ever bulldoze a thriving and profitable business. Remember, you don’t need to completely fulfill customer demand.
Make sure the customers aren’t far away from commercial areas –
The simple rule here is: don’t have your customers too far away from commercial areas. Try to make residential and commercial areas as close as possible. You should also ensure that there are transportation services running regularly. If you do these things, you will see less of that “not enough customers” issue.
Tax less –
One of the best ways to expand a business and keep it running is by simply lowering taxes. While this will affect your profits, it will be good for struggling businesses further down the line. However, if even lowering business taxes doesn’t help, then the only thing you can do is just bulldoze that business.
Plan and build your city better –
Your top priority should always be to plan and build a better city. If you aren’t following a plan, then expect to see such situations arise more and more frequently. Focus on zone suitability, commercial profitability, proper zoning areas, and whatnot. Also, make sure that your population has proper access to education.
Well, we hope that you can now at least curb some of the demand issues. And if you happen to be encountering blurry graphics in the game, check out this guide.
