Call of Duty Modern Warfare is the modern reimagining of 2007’s original modern warfare that was the most compelling military FPS game with an incredible story packed with immersive single-player and multiplayer gameplay. It has a unique arsenal of weapons, beautiful visuals, and top-notch gameplay that keeps fans immersed for countless hours. However, the multiplayer version does have its own set of issues with glitches, bugs, and server issues that often manifest and frustrate players. The recent missing data pack error on the Xbox version of the game has made it unplayable, ever since the “Pacifica” update went live a few weeks ago.

The cause of the error
It is not surprising that adding new content, gameplay feature, and fixing bugs and glitches in the upcoming update messes with the other parts of the game and in this case, the missing data pack error. This particular error is preventing players from queuing up for games because of the crossplay enabled: ‘Drop-In Rise Up!’ feature. Thankfully, devs are aware of this issue and are actively working on fixing the error, though it is uncertain when the hotfix or patch will be released.
Is there a fix?
After plenty of trial and error, some players discovered the fix for the missing data pack error in COD Modern Warfare for the Xbox console and we’ll be highlighting the fixes that’ll help you play the game normally without any issues. With that being said, follow the necessary steps mentioned below to solve the missing data pack error.
- Go to the main menu on the Xbox console and locate the game. Once you’ve done that, press the three lines button. A window will be open where you’ll see various options, select “manage game and addons” from the list by pressing the A button on your controller.
- Select Call of Duty Modern Warfare and it’ll send you to a new page. Make sure to select “game and add-ons” right next to the “All items” option.
- You’ll see a bunch of different data packs in the game below. You will have to download all of the data packs. Once it’s downloaded and installed, it should fix the issue. After that select the “Save changes” button and it will start to download add-ons to the game. Once it’s downloaded, you can launch the game.
- In the main menu screen where you can see your Call of Duty games, press the right thumbstick button on Warzone and it’ll launch the “game installs” window. You can select the game pack and download it from there as well. Enter the passkey if you have one.
Now that the data packs are installed, you should be able to play Call of Duty Modern Warfare without any issues.
