No matter how perfect a game is, it will always suffer from bugs and errors. Such is the case with Baldur’s Gate 3 too. From character-specific bugs like the Shadowheart Romance bug to High GPU/CPU usage issues, Baldur’s Gate 3 has no shortage of problems. However, Larian has been very competent when it comes to dealing with these, and there’s no doubt about it. Recently, a new issue has popped up that has been troubling many players. This is the unable to sort inventory bug in BG3.
As the name itself suggests, when encountered, this bug makes it so that players are unable to sort out their or another character’s inventory. This isn’t an ideal situation, as it makes combat encounters longer due to players not being able to find out their desired item in a few seconds. So, is there any fix? Let’s find out!
Baldur’s Gate 3 Unable to Sort Inventory Bug: Is there any fix yet
As of now, there’s no definite fix for this bug. Due to this, we recommend that you try out the following potential workarounds and see if any of them are of use to you.
Put Gold in a character’s first slot –
We really don’t know why doing this resolves the bug, but it seems to work. A player on a Steam Discussion post shared this workaround, and as such, players are recommended to at least try it out and see if it helps in fixing the issue. So, put some gold in your character’s inventory, which is bugged, and then sort it. Now, check if the issue persists.
Knock out your bugged character –
Another workaround was shared by a Reddit user. This one calls for knocking down the bugged character and then promptly saving the game by pressing F5. Now, launch the last save and “help” the unconscious character. If it’s dead, revive it either using a scroll or by going to Withers. Open inventory and check if the issue persists.
Reload a previous save –
Players who have a previous save with no such bug should reload that one and continue their run. If you encounter the bug again, repeat the process. This is a tedious workaround, but it’s still better than nothing, at least.
Try sorting out characters’ inventory one by one –
For some reason, sorting out every character’s inventory one by one seems to do the trick. It’s certainly a strange fix, but you should give it a chance. Who knows! You just might be able to get rid of this bug.
Restart Baldur’s Gate 3 –
There’s a 50/50 chance that restarting the game will resolve this bug. However, there are no downsides to trying out this method, and as such, we suggest performing a restart of the game whenever you encounter this bug.
Update –
So far, four hotfixes have been released by Larian for BG3. These hotfixes addressed a lot of major issues and could possibly do the same with this one. Players who are still playing the game without these hotfixes installed should download the latest available updates as soon as possible.
Get rid of Early Access files –
This is only for players who played the game during Early Access and are still in possession of those EA files. Larian has continuously stated that the EA files are obsolete now and suggested players delete them. Why? Because the EA files can cause errors such as these and interfere with the game.
That said, we hope that after trying these workarounds, the issue gets fixed. And, for more guides like this, check out DigiStatement regularly. Also, read: Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3) Bag of Holding: How to Get & Find?
