Baldur’s Gate 3 is certainly a major success for the Belgian video game development company, Larian Studios. But like everything, the game’s not perfect. Since its release, BG3 has been suffering from some issues, like the non-lethal attack bug and high GPU usage issues. Now there’s another one: the Morninglord’s Radiance Bug.
In case you didn’t know, Morninglord’s Radiance is a status effect in Baldur’s Gate 3. When activated, your weapon will deal an additional 1–4 radiant damage to the enemy. It’s a temporary buff that can be gained after getting Blood of Lathander. However, this bug simply makes it so that players can renew this buff, essentially turning it from a temporary one to a permanent one that doesn’t fade away even after a long rest. Now, this might seem like a great thing, but for some, it’s not since there are enemies that can reflect radiant damage. So, is there a fix for this issue? Let’s find out!
Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3) Morninglord’s Radiance Bug: Is there any fix yet
We know this bug does more good than harm, but to get the authentic BG3 experience, you might want to play the game as it was intended to be played and not exploit such mechanics. In that case, fixing this bug becomes necessary. Well, as of writing this guide, players can only use the following workarounds to fix this bug. Until an official fix is released, this is all we’ve got.
Take a long rest –
Many players were able to fix and deal with this bug by simply taking a long rest. Now, there are variants to this workaround too. Some say that going to the monastery, removing all weapons, and then taking a long rest would get rid of this bug. While others suggest taking a long rest and then not allowing characters to quit and rejoin your party. Which one will work for you? Only you will know that. Try both methods and see which one of them helps.
Reload a previous save –
Players who have a previous save with no instance of this bug can simply reload it to get rid of it. Now, this doesn’t ensure that the bug won’t reoccur, but you should still try it out. While you are at it, you should also know about the save file location of BG3 so that you can create local backups of saved games. Here’s a guide on the same.
Restart Baldur’s Gate 3 –
Restarting the game is a quick and simple workaround. Although we can’t fully guarantee that a restart will eliminate this bug, there’s no harm in trying out this workaround. If the issue still persists, follow the next one.
Repair the game –
At times, a missing or corrupted game file can also be a cause of such bugs and errors. Luckily, you can use Steam to fix that. Just open the storefront and then head to Library. Look for Baldur’s Gate 3 in there, and then right-click on it. Select Properties > Installed Files > Verify the integrity of game files.
Start a new run –
Now, we know this is a drastic workaround, but if you are just that annoyed with this bug and want to get rid of it asap, then we suggest starting a new save. Meanwhile, keep your bugged save file and wait for the developers to fix the issue. Once it’s fixed, you can resume your playthrough.
That said, we hope the provided workarounds help in fixing this issue in BG3. For more such interesting guides, follow DigiStatement. Also, read: Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3) Shadowheart Romance Bug: Is there any fix yet
