On December 7, 2023, Massive Entertainment and Ubisoft finally released Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows. Set in the Avatar universe, the game is supposed to be partially tied to the James Cameron films and will even affect certain story aspects of future Avatar films. Unlike the first Avatar game, which was released in 2009 and also published by Ubisoft, AFoP is a much better title. Although reception around Frontiers of Pandora has been mixed, the game is still a fun experience. Especially if you happen to be a fan of the usual Ubisoft open-world games. Now, due to just how new the game is, there’s a lot that curious players want to know about. And among the many things that players seem to be curious about, a major one is the romance option.
Romance in games is an age-old concept that’s mostly reserved for the visual novel and RPG genres. Among all the 2023 titles, Larian’s Baldur’s Gate 3 offers an extensive and great romance option to players. For some, adding a romance feature helps them connect with a certain character on a deeper level, while for others, it adds another layer of immersion. And with the recent release of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, there’s a good amount of curiosity around its romance feature. So how do you romance in the game? Avatar Frontiers of Pandora: How to romance
Unfortunately, as of writing this guide, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora doesn’t feature a romance option. All you get is a platonic relationship with both Na’vi and human characters. Yes, you will get to meet many characters in the game and even become friendly with many of them. However, that’s all you will have. There are neither dateable characters nor anything resembling it.
But what about getting a romance feature sometime in the future? Well, to be entirely honest, we are not very confident about that. Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora happens to have a teen rating, and the games with those ratings seldom have any features like that. Furthermore, if you take a look at Massive Entertainment’s portfolio of games over the past few years, you will quickly realize that their games don’t really have anything related to romance. Aside from that, even the recently developed Ubisoft games don’t come with a romance option.
As Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is also available on PC, we might get a romance option through the help of mods. However, even that might take some time. And that is considering anybody plans on making a romance mod. However, for now, all you can do is enjoy the game as it is and wait until either someone makes a romance mod or Massive themselves adds the feature (which is quite unlikely).
