The following workarounds will help fix this issue. Follow them carefully, and don’t skip any unless you have already tried it before.
Repair game files –
The very first thing we recommend you do is repair your game files. It’s a common way to deal with a lot of issues in-game, so give it a try first. If you don’t know how to do that, just follow the instructions below:
Ubisoft Connect
- Launch Ubisoft Connect and click on the Games tab.
- Now right-click on the game and choose Verify Files.
- Wait for the repair process to complete, and after that, restart your PC.
Epic Games
- Launch the Epic Games Launcher and click on Library.
- Next, click on the three dots on the game’s tile and select Manage > Verify files.
- After the verification process is done, launch the game.
Disable Overlay Applications –
If applications such as Discord, Steam, MSI Afterburner are running in the background of your system, consider disabling them and then launching the game. Sometimes, they are the ones causing the black screen issues in various games, so disabling them can fix the issue.
Update drivers –
Outdated drivers seem to be a common cause behind issues such as this one. In such cases, the only way to fix that is by getting the most stable GPU driver out there. So go ahead and do that. To get the latest stable drivers, you can either download them through the GPU companion applications or through the manufacturer’s website.
Run the game as an administrator and disable Full Screen Optimizations–
These days, a lot of games require admin access to run properly, and the same might be the case here. And you can do that by:
- Right-click on the game’s .exe file or the shortcut and select Properties.
- Now switch to the Compatibility tab, and you will see the Run this program as an administrator option.
- Checkmark the box near the option, and after this, checkmark the Disable Fullscreen Optimizations option. End the process by clicking on Apply > OK.
Switch to Windowed Mode –
If you are trying to run the game in Fullscreen mode, and are experiencing the black screen issue, we recommend that you try switching to Windowed Mode. This is also another common method to deal with issues like this one, so go ahead and try it.
Update Windows –
For those who haven’t updated their Windows OS in a while, we highly suggest you do so. At times, this is the best way to deal with an issue like this, so give this method a try.
