Developer FLINT’s ASTRA: Knights of Veda finally launched on April 2, 2024, for mobile and PC. Set in the world of Planis, where horrid monsters and nightmarish creatures reside, ASTRA: Knights of Veda is a 2D side-scrolling action-adventure title with gacha elements. Reviews so far have been pretty mixed, mostly due to the gacha, the hard-to-reroll system, and the myriad of bugs. Despite all that, some players are still enjoying the game, with many even trying it on their Steam Decks. Unfortunately, there have been reports of AKoV not working normally on the Deck.
ASTRA: Knights of Veda isn’t officially supported on the Steam Deck. Furthermore, because of its use of anti-cheat, it’s made it particularly hard for Deck players to fully enjoy the game. But can this issue be fixed? Well, without much further ado, let’s go ahead and find out.
ASTRA Knights of Veda not working on Steam Deck: How to fix it?
Well, at the time of publishing this, ASTRA: Knights of Veda is not compatible with the Steam Deck. This is mainly due to the game’s ACE anti-cheat, which is causing the AKoV to not run on the Deck at all. In order for the game to run without many issues on the Deck, the developers will first have to support Linux OS. And that’s something we don’t really know if FLINT is prioritizing or even thinking of. Furthermore, the anti-cheat has also become the subject of much criticism from the player base, with many demanding its removal.
The ProtonDB page of the game currently states ASTRA: Knights of Veda “Borked” for the Steam Deck. Suffice it to say, that even if you try to perform some tweaks, the game will simply not work on your Steam Deck. However, there’s an alternative to that. And the name of this alternative is dual-boot.
Since ASTRA: Knights of Veda has a lot of issues running natively or using Proton on the Steam Deck, we recommend that you dual-boot Windows on it. Doing so will allow you to download the Google Play Games Beta Client and play the game using that. To be more specific, you just need to head to this link, once you have dual-boot Windows on your Deck and then install the Google Play Games Beta Client. After that’s done, search for ASTRA: Knights of Veda in Google Play Games, and then download and install it on your Deck. Apart from this, you can directly install the game via Steam as well. For now, this is your only way to enjoy the game on your Steam Deck. If the developers do decide to support the game on the deck, we will be sure to let our readers know all about it.
