Block and parry incoming attacks in Assassin's Creed Mirage

Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed series is one of the most popular action/RPG series in the world. If you enjoy playing the Assassin’s Creed games, then you’d be glad to know that a new game in the series is here. Assassin’s Creed: Mirage was released on October 5, 2023, for a number of platforms. Well, unlike previous titles, this game focuses on a linear story and offers the players action-packed stealth gameplay. This means you’ll often find yourself engaged in difficult fights with different enemies in the game. For this, of course, you’ll need to know how to land your attacks on your target. However, only offensive skills won’t help you by any means. You will also need to develop defensive skills. So, learning how to block and parry incoming attacks in Assassin’s Creed Mirage is a necessary skill that you have to master. If you don’t know how to do it, consider reading this article until the end.

Assassin’s Creed: Mirage is the 13th major entry in the Assassin’s Creed series. It’s safe to say that this title is quite different from the recent AC games. The storytelling, the visual experience—everything is indeed different. However, something that still remains the same is the fighting mechanics. As always, playing Assassin’s Creed Mirage will mean that you’ll have to engage in various fights, and for this, you need to be ready defensively as well as offensively. It’s highly likely that you already know how to attack, but do you know how to block and parry incoming attacks in Assassin’s Creed Mirage? If not, then continue reading!

How to Block and Parry Incoming Attacks in Assassin’s Creed Mirage?

Block and parry incoming attacks in Assassin's Creed Mirage

All the Assassin’s Creed games are known for their intense action sequences, and AC Mirage follows the same tradition, although it has much more focus on stealth. Due to this, a large part of the game prompts players to parkour through the city and sneak up on the targets. However, this doesn’t mean that you won’t ever have to battle enemies face-to-face in the game. When such scenarios happen, you can easily use your parrying skills to defeat your opponents.

In the game, your character Basim will learn how to fight in the Brotherhood’s secret location. During this training, you’ll also learn how to parry attacks from your enemies. If you’re using your keyboard to play the game, then pressing Q at the right moment will perform a parry. However, on a PS controller, you’ll have to press the L1 button, while on an Xbox controller, you will have to press the LB button to parry. Furthermore, you can only parry attacks from your enemies during specific moments during the combat. So, let’s take a look at when you can parry in the game.

When to parry in Assassin’s Creed Mirage?

In the game, while you’re battling your enemy, at times you’ll find them glowing brightly. This is the indication that tells you the incoming attack can be parried. So, waiting for the attack to just land, and pressing the corresponding parry button during this timeframe will prompt Basim to use his knife to parry the attack. If you’re successful, then your opponent will be stunned for a while, and you’ll be able to use a one-shot kill on your enemy.

Dagger of Time

In the base edition of the game, you have to rely on your reaction time to parry attacks when a battle commences. However, you can purchase the Deluxe Edition of the game, which comes with items from the Prince of Persia universe. This includes the Dagger of Time. If you use this dagger, then you’ll be able to slow down time with a perfect parry.

Well, this is how you can block and parry incoming attacks in Assassin’s Creed: Mirage. If you found this content useful, keep visiting DigiStatement for more such gaming-related content and guides! Read more: Assassin’s Creed (AC) Mirage Chromatic Aberration: How to disable it?
