If you’re trying to play Armored Core 6 with your controller but it’s not working properly, you can try the following workarounds. However, before proceeding, do note that the PC version of AC6 comes with partial controller support, which means that you will eventually need your keyboard/mouse to access some in-game functions. With that out of the way, let’s get right into it:

Restart Steam and restart your PC

  • Open your Steam client and click on the Steam option in the top-left corner of your screen.
  • From the drop-down menu, select Exit.
  • Open Steam again, log into your account, and launch the game.
  • If it doesn’t work, then turn off your PC and restart it again.
  • Launch the game and see if the issue persists.

Alt-Tab out of the game

  • If the game is running but your controller isn’t working, press the Alt + Tab keys together to switch the display window.
  • Now, press Alt+Tab again to return to the game, and press anywhere on the screen.
  • Now, try to use your controller and see if it works.

Alter in-game settings

  • Open the game’s Settings menu by selecting the System option. Now, go to the Input Device Settings tab.
  • Locate the “Device for On-Screen Prompts” option from the right-side panel and switch it to Pad.
  • Access your controller and check if the issue persists.

Enable/Disable Steam Input

  • Open the Steam client and go to your Steam Library.
  • Locate Armored Core 6 from the list of games and right-click on it.
  • From the drop-down menu, click on Properties, and then select the Controller tab.
  • Open the drop-down menu corresponding to the “Override for Armored Core 6” option and check the status. If it’s enabled, then select the “Disable Steam Input” option. Otherwise, if it’s disabled, then enable Steam Input.
  • Launch the game and see if the issue persists.

Use Steam Big Picture Mode

Try launching the game in Steam Big Picture Mode to fix the controller not working issue. Open the Steam client and click on the Big Picture icon at the top of your screen. Then, launch the game and see if it solves the issue.

Disconnect other peripherals

If you’re using other USB devices, then try disconnecting them before launching the game. You should only keep your controller connected to ensure that it’s responsive and works properly in the game.

Enable Steam Input Controllers

  • Open the Steam client and click on the Steam option from the top left corner of your screen.
  • From the context menu, go to Settings and then open the Controller option.
  • Under the External Gamepad Settings option, enable the controller that you’re using. For example, if you’re using an Xbox controller, then enable Steam Input for Xbox Controllers.
  • Run the game and see if the issue persists.

Disable Steam Overlay

  • Open Steam and go to your Steam Library.
  • Locate Armored Core 6 from the list of installed games and right-click on it.
  • Click on Properties from the drop-down menu.
  • Go to the General tab and turn off the “Enable Steam Overlay while In-Game” option.
  • Then, run the game and see if the controller works.

Verify game files

  • Open the Steam client and go to the Steam Library.
  • Find Armored Core 6 from the list of installed games and right-click on it.
  • Click on Properties from the drop-down menu.
  • Click on Local Files and select the “Verify integrity of game files” option. After this, wait until the process is complete.
  • Launch the game and see if the issue persists.

Reinstall the game

Finally, if nothing else works, then simply uninstall the game and reinstall it again on another drive. See if it fixes the issue for you.
