Ark players can now enjoy Ark Survival Ascended, which is built on the Unreal Engine 5. But this has come at a great cost. Unreal Engine 5, mixed with Studio Wildcard’s horrible game optimization record, Ark: Survival Ascended, is not an easy game to run and play. It’s up there with Cities: Skylines II, Forspoken, and the like. While the dev team is certainly working on optimizing ASA and removing bugs and errors, the issues keep piling up. And one of the recent ones happens to be the Mouse Not Working issue.
Well, the issue pretty much explains itself. Players have reported that after opening the in-game inventory or when dragging something on dinos, their mouse just stops working. Now, we don’t really know what’s causing the mouse to stop working at times, but it’s happening frequently enough to warrant a guide like this. So, is there a fix for this issue? Ark Survival Ascended (ASA) Mouse Not Working Issue: Is there any fix yet
As of now, there is no official fix for this issue, but you can try the following workarounds. These are potential fixes that have a high chance of getting rid of this problem.
Restart –
Before trying out other workarounds, we suggest you do a quick restart of the game. See if that helps. You can even perform a restart of your PC if the game restart method doesn’t work. Now, if the issue still persists, switch to another workaround.
Check for hardware damage –
A simple reason behind this issue could be that your mouse has some hardware damage, which is giving rise to issues such as these. So, thoroughly check your mouse, and if there’s no damage, try another fix.
Hold the middle mouse button –
It’s been found that holding the middle mouse button for a few seconds fixes the issue. At least that’s what u/LesserFaith did to deal with this issue. Try this, and if you are still encountering this issue, check out the next fix.
Open up the command wheel –
u/DakhmaDaddy suggested opening up the command wheel or a dino’s radial wheel to address this issue. Try it, and if it doesn’t help you, then you will need to try another method. For this workaround, you need to look at a dino and press E to bring up the radial wheel.
Switch to a different mouse –
By switching to another mouse, you can quickly figure out if the issue is with your mouse or the game itself. If the former is true, then you just need to change your mouse, and if the latter is true, then you will have to try the next method.
Disconnect other peripherals –
If the issue persists, consider disconnecting any extra peripherals connected to your PC. Except for the primary keyboard and mouse, remove all additional devices, and then check whether the mouse works.
Verify files –
There’s also the verifying files method, which is one of the more common workarounds for a lot of issues. And it’s quite easy to do. You need to open Steam and click on Library. Once you are in there, right-click on ASA and select Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files. Next, wait until the process is complete, and then restart your PC. After this, launch the game, and check whether the issue persists.
