So May Day is just around the corner for Animal Crossing New Horizons’ players and we can’t wait to meet Rover again. So the May Day event will consist of multiple things but we know you will have to get through a maze and talk to Rover. Here is our previous May Day guide.
Now thanks to some incredible work by data miners and streamers working hard to recreate the maze and coming up with a solution. Nycolas found the image of the maze in the data of the game and posted it on twitter. From there we put our Animal Crossing acumen to the job and came up with a solution to the maze.
Rover’s May Day Maze Solution and Guide
So here is the uncovered map, if you can see on the top right side Rover is standing right there. As soon as May 1 hits, the Nook Miles ticket will lead you to this mystery island. Okay so let’s start with the solution to this maze.
From the Update trailer, we know that our character will have a shovel at the start of the maze as shown below. So that little red box at the start of the maze is a shovel.
Now the real deal begins from after you pick up the shovel.
Step 1: Take the shovel and dig up the bush with white flowers that you can see on the left side of the maze. This will get you the cherry on the ground. From your inventory, eat the cherry.
Step 2: When you eat the cherry it will allow you to dig up the tree at the entrance of the maze. This can only be done if you eat the cherry.
Step 3: Now that the tree is removed, you can start exploring the maze. Run straight till you can make you first right and get to the wood laid on the right side, hopping over the holes. Then go towards the left and don’t forget to pick up the tree branch in between.
Step 4: Again revert back to the holes you hopped over initially and take a right this time. The first right, you will pick up another tree branch, the next will lead you to the second item in the game, the flimsy axe in the red box.
Step 5: The Flimsy Axe will help you break a tree in 3 cuts. Pick up the 4th total tree branch and go back to the left side of the maze where you found your first branch. When you reach there, cut the tree using the flimsy axe. Pick up the two cherries and the sole tree branch.
Step 6: The Flimsy Axe becomes useless after one use, so you can drop it from the inventory. Then go back to the three holes, this time taking a left. You will encounter a rock blocking you. Eat a cherry to break the rock with the shovel and pick up the iron nugget.
Step 7: Make your way to the other side of the map to eat another cherry. You will find another rock to crush. You will find a cherry just ahead of the rock that you will utilize in breaking a tree forward.
Step 8: After you dig the tree, you will find a crafting bench that you will use to create an Axe. The items for which you have already collected from the maze already. 5 tree branches, 3 wood, 1 stone and 1 iron nugget.
Step 9: If you had chopped the tree without crafting the axe, you would get short of cherries and get stuck. So after you get the axe, head to the tree in the middle and chop it down. This will get you another 2 cherries.
Step 10: Follow the arrows to complete the maze and chop the final trees, so you can talk to Rover.
Rover will have a present for you. The tool you get from the island is probably the wood axe that you craft. The map and island are now free to roam and you can get some bell vouchers as a reward. May Day Event is going to fun.
Remember May Day event is going to come out tomorrow on May 1st, labour day. So use this guide to complete this maze and show-off to your friends.
