In Animal Crossing, fossil will only raise your wealth by a maximum of 6000 bells, which won’t make you wealthiest one. But founding multiple of Fossils can provide you a good lump-sum. Animal Crossing New Horizons Fossil List & Sell Prices

You can get the Fossil by digging up star-shaped cracks on the ground. You will need a shovel to dig up them so, make sure you already have one.

Fossils are blue, circular rocks with shell & star designs. You have to go to the museum and ask Blathers to assess fossils, and then you will able to find what type of Fossil you got.
