So May Day has finally arrived. If you are living in Australia, you can go right now into the game and download update 1.2.0a for you to go to the mystery island. Tom Nook explains to you that May Day is a special event to celebrate the hardworking resident of the island and give them a special tour. So labour day is the perfect day for it.
Remember you only get one shot at the maze unless you rescue yourself, so take your time and don’t be hasty.
If you are a time traveller, revert the date back to the present and you will be blessed with the update.
May Day Guide
Tom Nook
You will be greeted with Isabelle on the start of the game, launching you into the May Day. After that, you can run to Resident Service and talk to Tom Nook to get the May Day ticket.
Head to the Airport
After you get the special Nook Miles Ticket, go to the airport to board onto the plane to mystery island! You will leave all your items behind as you go to this special island.
You will only be able to use the items placed about in the maze for the solution. You cannot even buy tools off Orville.
The Maze Solution
Now the real deal begins from after you pick up the shovel.
Step 1: Take the shovel and dig up the bush with white flowers that you can see on the left side of the maze. This will get you the cherry on the ground. From your inventory, eat the cherry.
Step 2: When you eat the cherry it will allow you to dig up the tree at the entrance of the maze. This can only be done if you eat the cherry.
Step 3: Now that the tree is removed, you can start exploring the maze. Run straight till you can make you first right and get to the wood laid on the right side, hopping over the holes. Then go towards the left and don’t forget to pick up the tree branch in between.
Step 4: Again revert back to the holes you hopped over initially and take a right this time. The first right, you will pick up another tree branch, the next will lead you to the second item in the game, the worn axe in the red box.
Step 5: The worn axe will help you break a tree in 3 cuts. Pick up the 4th total tree branch and go back to the left side of the maze where you found your first branch. When you reach there, cut the tree using the worn axe. Pick up the two cherries and the sole tree branch.
Step 6: The Worn Axe becomes useless after one use, so you can drop it from the inventory. Then go back to the three holes, this time taking a left. You will encounter a rock blocking you. Eat a cherry to break the rock with the shovel and pick up the iron nugget.
Step 7: Make your way to the other side of the map to eat another cherry. You will find another rock to crush. You will find a cherry just ahead of the rock that you will utilize in breaking a tree forward.
Step 8: After you dig the tree, you will find a crafting bench that you will use to create an Axe. The DIY Recipe for both flimsy axe and the normal axe will be available there itself. The items for which you have already collected from the maze already. 5 tree branches, 3 wood, 1 stone and 1 iron nugget.
Step 9: If you had chopped the tree without crafting the axe, you would get short of cherries and get stuck. So after you get the axe, head to the tree in the middle and chop it down. This will get you another 2 cherries.
Step 10: Follow the arrows to complete the maze and chop the final trees, so you can talk to Rover.
Rover will have a present for you. The tool you get from the island is probably the wood axe that you craft. The map and island are now free to roam and you can get some bell vouchers as a reward. May Day Event is going to fun.
May Day Rewards & Items
Once you clear the maze, Rover will greet you near a fireplace. He will reward you with the Rover’s briefcase. You can also grab additional bell vouchers protected by 3 stones at the end of the maze. The total number of bell vouchers available is 9, which you can sell at Nook’s Cranny and cash in 27,000 bells.
Rover says that you might run into each other again, so a future event including him is exciting!
So that is it, after this, you head back to your island. You will find your items in the mail at your house. If any time while completing the maze you think you will miss out on a reward, you can just dial Rescue and restart the maze.
Another interesting thing is if you are in South Hemisphere, you will get to eat Peaches in butt shapes!
