Since its official launch Riot’s Valorant has received tons of feedback and criticism from the community and users. Unlike Valve, they chose to act upon it and improve them with regular patches which included buffs, nerfs and suitable updates to the gameplay as demanded by its users. The agent ‘Raze’ and the weapon ‘Operator’ also went through some major changes so that they don’t Man-handle the whole server in one game.
In a series of digital presentation which is called ‘Dev Diaries’ which is hosted on Valorant’s own Youtube channel, the developers explain how they have acted upon to the feedback provided by the users of the game. In the latest episode, they accepted the fact that the balance of the matchmaking might be unfair sometimes as sometimes a person is queued with another person who might be an unfair opponent in respect to rank and skill of the game.
As clarified by the Head of Design Lead (Competitive) David “MILKCOW” Cole the new matchmaking update will allow you to queue with only those who are either three ranks above or below your own competitive rank which would minimize the rank disparity among the players and everyone would have an equal chance of winning. Which means that a Platinum 3 will only be able to queue up with players who are ranked at least Gold 3, but not higher than Diamond 3.
David Cole stated, “When we were first setting up ranked for launch, one big goal we had was to embrace social play, to let players from wider skill disparities play together, But while the former values of social play are important, they should never come at the expense of your ranked accomplishments.”
In conclusion, we can hope that the matchmaking from now on is improved and aligned with respect to our skills and higher skill groups such as Immortals and Radiants get reduced time for Matchmaking.
