The news is here that Koei Tecmo and Gust have finally decided to release their new RPG, Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream. It is a direct sequel to the companies’ first one, Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book and will take the story forward from there only. The game is slated to release on 24th February 2022 in Japan and 25th February 2022 here in North America. Coming to the platforms, it will available for PV via Steam, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
Yeah, there has been no announcement regarding the release of the game on any Xbox console, but keep following Digi Statement for the latest updates regarding the game.
For those who have no idea about what the game is, Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream is a turn-based puzzle roleplaying game with quite an intuitive story and anime-styled graphics. The first counterpart was released back in 2015, and we recently saw the DCL/DX version launched on Steam.
The game is about a girl Sophie Neuenmuller, who is an aspiring alchemist. She is joined by her friend and mentor Plachta as she embarks on a dangerous yet wonderful journey. Here is the fact about Plachta. She has her soul inside a doll and is searching for ways to become a human again. The second part will be bringing in new characters into the story.
Since we are talking about the story, the second part will take us forward from where the first one had left. We will witness what all Sophie and Plachta will have to go through on their journey. After leaving their hometown, the duo discovers a mysterious tree that Plachta had seen in her dreams. Upon approaching the tree, they are pulled towards a cortex where they get separated.
While there is no info regarding Plachta, Sophie wakes up in another world known Erde Wiege. This is where we will get our new character, PLACHTA! Yeah, this is the human Plachta who is a younger version and doesn’t recognize Sophie! As Sophie searches for the Plachta she knows, she is joined by another aspiring alchemist Ramizel Erlenmeyer. Both of them move forwards in the journey fighting off monsters and making allies.
Four characters have been included in the game to date. The story looks quite a lot captivating and staggering, and we can hope for it to lure the gamers away. The game still has that alchemy element. This means that players will have to mix and match materials just like they did in the previous part. But this time players can choose between two different ways to alchemize: a quick and easy system to help make essential items and a more complex one for alchemy experts.
We will have three editions of the game available for download. The primary two are the Standard and Deluxe editions. Then we have the Limited edition which is already up for pre-orders on the NISA official website at $119.
The Limited Edition will have an art book, deluxe fabric poster, keychain, bonus BGM CD, and an exclusive DLC costume all packaged into a beautiful collector’s box.
