Horizon Forbidden West is the much-awaited sequel to what is considered one of the best PS4 exclusives ever, Zero Dawn. Everyone’s favourite rebel teen protagonist, Aloy makes her return as the game travels all the way to the West Coast. Let’s take a look at everything we know about the game as of now.
Guerilla has confirmed that the game is looking at a late 2021 release on the PS5. We hope that didn’t jolt you out of your senses, because the game is indeed coming to the PS4, just a little later. While some people online were speculating that the game could be facing a delay that would push it back to 2022, Jim Ryan has stated in February of this year that a late 2021 release is still on the cards.
While Pre-Order and pricing information is not officially released yet, it is a safe assumption to make that a game of this magnitude and popularity will have a base price in the region of $60-$70. The Deluxe and Ultimate Editions would progressively increase by another $20 each, which seems to be the trend with most games coming out lately.
The brand new Rebreather tool was spotlighted in the game, hinting that underwater exploration (and maybe even combat!) would be a big part of Forbidden West. The exciting new traversal tool, a grappling hook was shown off as well and made Aloy look like the Future Past’s Batwoman.
The game’s setting is, quite obviously, the western seaboard. San Franciso and Yosemite are among the places seen. However, it would seem from the state of play trailer that the Caribbean Islands off the East Coast of what was once the United States may also be included. Alternatively, this could be Hawaii, which would make more sense, since it’s off the West Coast as well.
