God of War 2, most likely to be subtitled Ragnarok, is set for a late-2021 release to the PlayStation consoles. While some may have written off any hopes for a PC or Xbox release, we like to keep our minds open. Let’s look at the possibilities of God of War Ragnarok coming to platforms apart from the Playstation.
The chances of an Xbox release are extremely slim. While there have been times in the past when a sensational collaboration between the two heavyweights of the gaming industry was rumoured, it never gets to fruition. Obviously, God of War would be one heck of a game to collaborate over, but a crossover of this magnitude and fanfare would undoubtedly have rumours, leaks, and speculation buzzing all over the gaming community by now, but it has not. We won’t rule out the highly unlikely, but this game coming out on Xbox platforms may just be impossible.
On PC, however, there is a far higher chance of the game being dropped. Horizon Zero Dawn set a massive precedent by becoming the first Sony exclusive to be released on the PC, and it seems likely that The Last of Us 2 will also get the same treatment. PC Gamers have long been yearning for a chance to run critically-acclaimed PlayStation exclusives like Bloodborne and God of War. Needless to say, the amazing worlds of these games would look absolutely breathtaking on the superior hardware of a $2000 custom made PC. While there are not currently any pointers to the fact that God of War Ragnarok might be coming to the PC, Sony has been known to be aiming for a bigger presence in the PC market of late. We’ll have to wait and see what happens, but this game will be a blockbuster breaker either way.
