Xbox X Series

Xbox X belongs to the fourth-gen video gaming console launched very recently in 2020. It was launched along with Sony’s PlayStation 5 and both of them are considered members of the ninth generation of gaming consoles to date.

The Xbox Series X has higher-end hardware, and supports higher display along with higher frame rates and real-time ray tracing; it also has a high-speed solid-state drive to reduce loading times. The Xbox Series X is powered by a custom 7 nm AMD Zen 2 CPU with eight cores running at a nominal 3.8 GHz, or when simultaneous multithreading is used, at 3.6 GHz. One CPU core is dedicated to the underlying operating system.

Microsoft has also stated that it supports all games which were available on previous versions of Xbox, except those that require a Kinect sensor.

The E101 error code on your Xbox X happens when you try to update the console. Mostly it is an update error when it does not install on the device properly. It can also be a hardware issue that has no other solution but repair.

There isn’t much that you can do when this error shows up, but some methods have proven to be helpful to some users.

Method 1: Reset your console to factory defaults

  • Turn off your console first and then unplug the power cable.
  • Wait for a while (around 30 seconds) and then plug the power cable back in.
  • Now restart your console.
  • To do so, press and hold Bind & Ejectbutton, and at the same time press the Xbox Button.
  • You will find the Bind button on the left side of your console. This button is used to pair the new Xbox one controller. And, the Eject button available on the front of the console.
  • Now continue holding the Bind and Ejectbutton for around 10-15 seconds, you will hear power-up tones twice.
  • Release both the Bind button and the Eject button after you hear the second power-up tone. This will launch the Xbox Start-up Troubleshooter directly.
  • Then select Reset this Xbox and then press A on your controller to confirm it.
  • When the confirmation window pop-up, select Remove Everything.

Your Xbox has been reset.

Method 2: Check for hardware issue

If the above solution does not fix the E101 error, there might be a hardware issue. In that case, users will need to return their Xbox X consoles to Microsoft for repairs.

An update can break your Xbox One in such a way that you have to send it to the service. However, this is a very rare event, so don’t be afraid to update your devices.

These methods should help you fix the error, if not, you can write to the local support of Xbox for your queries.
