Nvidia just revealed its RTX 3000 series graphics cards, and to put it in a few words, it went extremely well for them. They revealed the RTX 3070, the RTX 3080 and the RTX 3090 which will retail for $499, $699 and $1499 respectively. And while you might look at the price and wonder about the hype around these new Ampere cards, after all these are priced pretty similarly to the 2000 series released last year. But that’s exactly what the exciting part is: These cards bring massive performance gains for the same price. For example, the RTX 3070 is more powerful than the RTX 2080Ti.
Now, while this is no doubt great for us (except of course if you recently dropped some serious dough on the RTX 2080Ti; you have our condolences), this is not as thrilling for AMD who are all set to release their Big Navi graphics cards. AMD has usurped Intel’s position on the performance throne, bringing some much-needed competition to the market. So, fans have been waiting for it to do the same in the discreet GPU space. While AMD wasn’t expected to outperform Nvidia, it was expected to be the more value friendly choice.
But with Nvidia pricing its cards so aggressively, AMD is going to have a tough time competing. But it would be foolish for us to write them off before they are even launched. And its always fun to have more tech. So, if you have been waiting eagerly for Team Red’s next move, you’ll be excited to know that popular YouTuber JayzTwoCents has posted on Twitter that AMD might possibly announce Big Navi on or near October 7. Seeing that the RTX 3080 will be hitting store shelves on September 17, it is going to be curious to see how many consumers will be willing to hold off on their purchase until Big Navi’s announcement.
