Halo Infinite is the 6th edition of the popular science fiction video game series from Bungie and 343 Industries, which is a subsidiary of Microsoft Studios. The first-person shooter will launch on PC and Xbox One. It is known that the game is a continuation of Halo 5: Guardians. The storyline continues the story of Master Chief, who goes on one of the most important missions in order to save humanity. When creating Infinite, the studio places a great emphasis on cosmetic elements. The 343i draws inspiration from Halo Reach, where the most detailed customization in the series was presented. Halo has been one of the crucial parts of Xbox’s identity.
2020 bears very good news for Halo fans, as the game returns and with it returns our algae-green flood-fighting Master Chief. It is also going to be the launch title for the release of Xbox Series X, the start of next-gen controls and be a part of Xbox Game Pass.
The Halo series has seen ups and downs, with the latest title Halo 5 released back in 2015 disappointing the series’ single-player campaigns. But we have high hopes with Halo 6, deeming it a revival of a classical franchise.
As of yet, we do not have much to go on. Only a couple of teaser trailers, no real gameplay revelation but there Master Chief returns as the main protagonist. Also, Halo will have split-screen multiplayer.
Release date
E3 2020 was cancelled due to the ongoing pandemic COVID-19 but Microsoft and 343 are confident that the development is going smoothly. We can expect the game to release with the next-gen Xbox anywhere in the holiday season this year.
Microsoft has confirmed that they will be holding an online event. So Halo will be on your consoles between October 2020 to December 2020.
November is the most likely. Microsoft past releases ended up in November.
Tid-bits of the Game
- Forge mode: comeback of the forge mode
- Is there a Halo ring: YES!
- Micro-transactions: Lootboxes removed but maybe other methods will be available
- Battle Royale mode: 343 confirmed no Battle Royale
E3 2019 trailer and Gameplay details
Microsoft teased the trailer in E3 2019 but it definitely wasn’t enough. It starts with a UNSC soldier seemingly derelict in space in a Pelican. The trailer takes Halo back to its roots and we love it but a little bit of gameplay would have quenched our thirsts.
Dramatic landscape shots and Master Chief’s helmet were the highlights. The Warthog Vehicle re-enters the fray and Master Chief jacks another chip to his helmet. So we might get another AI than Cortana.
COVID-19 delays the game? No!
It is good to hear positive news these days when all of us are stuck at homes watching the numbers go up. In a recent blog post, 343 told the fans that despite the whole studio working from their respective homes, the game’s development is not delayed.
“We’re removing all the obstacles in our path and tracking well, but need to be mindful of our current limitations and understand that the coronavirus situation may get worse before it gets better. Rest assured that every single one of us is doing everything in our power to continue developing and delivering quality Halo experiences while we adjust to this new way of life,” the post reads.
We should still be wary of a final date because of the uncertain times that we are flowing through.
That’s it for Halo Infinite. Any updates will be ready for you on this post, so be ready and happy gaming!
