Monster Hunter Wilds Beta Error Code s3091-0-0 How to fix it (2)

A new Monster Hunter game is on the way! Yes, we are talking about Monster Hunter Wilds. While there is still about a week till the full release of the game, the devs have given players the chance to try out their beta playtest. The first one was held in November last year and now we have the second phase of the play test going live. However, the beta version of the game isn’t polished, as some cannot play it because of the Error Code s3091-0-0. So, here is how you may be able to fix it.

The Monster Hunter Wilds error S3091-0-0 appears to be a multiplayer connectivity issue where players get booted out from the session but can still see in-game action while losing all control over their character and menus. The game keeps receiving data from the server but fails to register the player’s inputs. So, how to fix it? Here’s everything you need to know.

Monster Hunter Wilds Beta Error Code s3091-0-0 How to fix it

There is no single guaranteed fix for the S3091-0-0 error, but the official team has provided a series of troubleshooting steps for players encountering issues during the playtest. We have explained these potential workarounds below for you to try out.

Run as Admin

Running Monster Hunter Wilds or Steam without proper permissions may cause issues. To fix this, right-click Steam.exe, select “Run as administrator”, and try launching the game. If the issue persists, do the same for the game’s .exe file. If this still does not fix the issue, reboot your PC before you launch the game again.

Background Apps

If a restart fails to fix the issue, make sure that no other applications are running in the background. Resource-intensive software like video recording tools can consume CPU, GPU, memory, or I/O bandwidth, impacting the game’s stability. To improve performance, close unnecessary applications before launching the game to free up system resources and see if this fixes the issue.

Check the game’s system requirements

If you’re experiencing issues with Monster Hunter Wilds, first ensure your PC meets at least the minimum system requirements listed on the Steam Store page. If you meet the minimum but not the recommended specs, lowering graphical settings and restarting the game may improve performance. Multi-GPU setups like NVIDIA SLI or AMD Crossfire can sometimes cause compatibility problems, so disabling them might help. Additionally, Capcom does not guarantee support for mobile GPUs, external GPUs, or Windows Insider builds, so using a fully supported system is your best bet!

Try again

Since this is most likely a network-related issue, consider launching the game at a different time, potentially when the servers are not clogged up. Since the beta test is played by many, there is a chance that a server overload is causing this error to occur.

Antivirus

If Monster Hunter Wilds is failing to launch, your antivirus software might be blocking it due to a false-positive error. To prevent this, add the game’s executable (MonsterHunterWildsBeta.exe), the Steam folder, and the Steam AppData folder to your antivirus and firewall exception lists. If they were previously added, try removing and re-adding them. Bitdefender users must also manually whitelist the game’s .exe file in the “Advanced Threat Defense” settings.

Drivers Update

Keeping your GPU drivers and Windows OS updated is crucial for Monster Hunter Wilds to run properly. Update your NVIDIA or AMD drivers from their official sites, and make sure Windows Update is fully installed. If issues persist, perform a clean driver installation to remove old driver files completely before installing the latest version.

GPU Power Settings

Check your GPU and power settings. For laptops with dual GPUs (Intel + NVIDIA/AMD), check that the game runs on the dedicated GPU by setting it to “High Performance” via the Windows Graphics Settings menu. Also, update Intel integrated drivers if applicable. For power settings, go to Control Panel > Power Options, select “High Performance”, and ensure your laptop is plugged in.

DirectX and Codecs

For Monster Hunter Wilds to run smoothly, update DirectX by downloading and running the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer from Microsoft’s official site. Additionally, if you experience cutscene playback issues, install the Media Feature Pack, as some Windows editions—especially in EU territories and Korea—lack Windows Media Player and its necessary codecs. This helps prevent missing video/audio issues during in-game cutscenes.

Verify Files

Another option is to try verifying the game’s files in Steam to fix missing or corrupted files. To do this, restart your PC, open Steam, right-click the game in your Library, select Properties > Local Files, and click “Verify integrity of game files.” Steam will scan and replace any problematic files. If some files fail to verify, this is usually normal for local configuration files. Temporarily disabling your antivirus while verifying or launching the game may also help, as some security programs mistakenly flag game files.

Shader Cache Files

To give this workaround a shot, here is what you need to do. For AMD GPUs, open AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition, reset the shader cache, then run Disk Cleanup and select “DirectX Shader Cache” to delete the files. For NVIDIA GPUs, open the NVIDIA Control Panel, disable the Shader Cache Size, run Disk Cleanup, and delete the shader files from the game’s installation folder. Additionally, manually delete any files named “shader.cache” and “shader.cache2” in the game’s directory to reset the shader cache.

Increase VRAM (Page File Size)

To increase your VRAM, search for “View Advanced System Settings” in Windows, then go to the Advanced tab and click Settings under Performance. In the Performance Options window, select the Advanced tab again and click Change under Virtual Memory. Uncheck “Automatically manage paging file size for all drives”, choose the drive where the game is installed, and set a custom size: the initial size should be 1.5 times your total RAM, and the maximum size should be 3 times your total RAM. Click OK to apply the changes.

And those are all the workarounds we recommend you try for the Error Code s3091-0-0 in Monster Hunter Wilds. We hope this was helpful.
