There is no doubt that Marvel Rivals is one of the best, if not the best, releases of 2024. The game, released on December 6, 2024, on all popular platforms, including PC, Xbox, and PS5, has stapled itself as the go-to game in the hero shooter genre, overshadowing similar games like Overwatch 2 and Paladins. Now, this isn’t to say that Marvel Rivals is a polished game. Developed and published by NetEaseGames, the game suffers from countless issues/bugs, among which is the combat controls bug that has been troubling players a lot, as we see it. If you are reading this guide, chances are that you too have encountered the same issue. That said, consider reading this guide, as we have shared a few workarounds to help you get rid of this weird bug in Marvel Rivals.

The roster featured in Marvel Rivals is quite huge and each character in the game comes with unique abilities that offer value in the PvP matches. Some characters are easy to use, some are a bit tricky, but if used right, you can get huge value out of them. Well, due to the variety of characters in the roster, you can even set custom combat controls for each hero in Marvel Rivals. For characters like Spider-Man and Venom, the Easy Swing setting is something that, while useful, can be very annoying once you get used to the character. So, most prefer disabling it. But the thing is, due to an unknown bug, these character-specific hero combat controls don’t get saved in the game. So, how to fix it? Here are more details regarding the same.

Since there’s no official acknowledgement or fix for this issue yet, you will have to make do with the potential workarounds that are shared in this guide. While we can’t guarantee a 100% success rate, these workarounds are still worth a shot.

Restart

Well, this is just a basic precaution to try before you fiddle with the in-game settings. So, start by restarting Marvel Rivals, and if the issue persists, restart your PC. If the bug prevails, try the next fix.

Change Controls in the correct section/tab

Once you access the settings menu in Marvel Rivals, you will find two tabs named Keyboard and Controller, along with others. So, depending on the input method you are using, you will have to change these settings under that corresponding tab. If you are using a keyboard and mouse input scheme, make sure you are changing the controls in the Keyboard section. The same goes for controller.

English Language

No matter how weird and unrelated it may sound, making sure that your system has the English language installed can fix the issue. At least this is what worked for many. So, if you aren’t familiar with the process, first, close the game and access Windows Settings. Now, go to the Date & Time tab, and then select the Language and Region option. Here, make sure you have downloaded the English language. After this, set it to Priority. Once done, launch Marvel Rivals, and then check whether the settings get saved.

For now, these are the effective workarounds that you can try to fix the combat controls not saving issue in Marvel Rivals. If you find this guide informative, consider visiting DigiStatement daily for more such interesting content on all things gaming.
